We made it down to the river and set up camp. We were watching the water for a couple of hours and decided we better move the camper a little further away. It was coming up quick. About half way through the day my rig made a pop sound like the tcase popped out of gear and I lost all movement. I was setting on flat ground and just tried to start going when it happened. Pretty sure it's my intermediate shaft on my double transfer case set up. So I had to be dragged back to the camper and we pushed it backwards to get it hooked up so we could move it, since I was the only one with a hitch.
Picture of our camp after the move. Then we had to get me loaded up the next day with the camper still in tow. I've got it in the shop now. Hope to get it pulled tonight and see exactly what is the problem. |

Know the feeling,
I had/heard a “pop” in a similar situation one time in my 76’ FJ-40 small block. I Had cracked my transfer case (case)in half. Cost $800.00 in 1978~$ to replace it w/new. I hope your luck is better than mine... |

If it is the shaft that I'm thinking about, it will be the second time for it to brake. The other time is when I had this setup in a jeep. If it is that then I'm going to spend the $300 to get the aftermarket beefier designed shaft and not put a stocker back in like I did last time.

i have heard about those resplined shafts breaking, but a new hardened one ought to do you good. its a pain in the ass to pull my ord doubler. your adapter is steel!

I found my problem. I believe it is called the intermediate shaft coming from the NP203 gear box. The splines twisted pretty good before it let go. Waiting for ORD to open this morning so I can give them a call and see if they have something better than stock. I have another case I could rob it out of but would rather upgrade while I'm in there.

Got the doubler all back together with another factory resplined shaft from Jed's. That's the only way to get another shaft and he had to make it for me. I should be good cause I really thing I must have shifted the wrong case iin first and that caused to much torque on the shaft. I won't do that again.
We decided to go to Clayton over the labor day weekend and had a pretty good time. To bad it was 108 degrees during the day! We had already decided that we would just be night wheeling anyways. Pulled in at midnight Friday, unloaded, set up camp, and went wheeling. We didn't pull back into camp until 7am. No breakage that night so we just hung out in the camper in the ac all day sleeping and bsing. Went back out Saturday evening about 6 and wheeled until 2 of the rigs in our group had major problem. One smashed the tranny pan and broke the shifter off the side of the case. The other one had a link mount rip off the frame and then on the way down his tcase took a ****. But I made it out without any carnage except for a few more dents in the old girl. We only got a few pic all weekend and very little video since we were mainly night wheeling. Here's where I was starting in to try the ledge. Never had tried before cause I never thought it would fit. I had to hit it at a hard angle to get the bumper to clear so I could get started up it. Got most the way up without much issue. Then when my belly bottomed out it allowed the rear end to slide to the passenger side, witch put the top of my bed corner right under the big rock behind me. No way to back out. So we figured to try and winch it and make it pivot back to clear the bed. I thought it was going to rip the whole bed side down but it came out alright. I'm just glade they put the tailgate down cause it would have ripped it down. Just a couple more dents. Then on top of the mountain it got a little sideways. Picture doesn't do it justice. Was able to drive out of it. We had a good little group of rigs with us. We definitely will not be going back during the heat of the summer like that again though. Ended up coming home a day soon since the other 2 guy were broke. |

Haven't posted here in a while. Been wheeling it pretty regularly. I added a light bar to the top and had about 20 rigs come out to play at my place.
Then was asked to bring it to the river for a music video shoot. Also took the girls and some of the band members for a ride up the river bank after it was over. Then took it to a new place to try out. It was a little slimy but still had fun. Hope to get started on building a rear bumper for it before long. |

Went out by my self yesterday to do some scouting for new spots to play. Decided to go down the creek that I've never tried before, but it has been really dry so I thought I would give it a try. Made it through the first two water holes no problem. Then I tried to skirt around the 3rd one and it sucked me in.
When it started sliding I turned into it and punched it cause I thought it was going to roll. The back tire was really light. Pulled out my 2 chains and tow strap and then hooked my winch to them. Probably 200 foot to the tree. started pulling and went about 2ft before I stopped to reposition my tire. The whole time the passenger side just kept getting deeper and deeper. Went to start winching again and the winch wouldn't work. Probably a good thing. It might have tipped over if I kept pulling the way I was. Luckily my dad was close by and brought a tractor down. Hooked a chain to me and then hooked another chain to the top of my cage back to the chain going to the tractor, to keep me from rolling. Once we started pulling it leaned over and that chain got really tight. Probably saved my ass by hooking that extra chain up. Got it out without much issue. Then had to go home and wash it. |

I love how everytime someone goes to "scout" they end up getting stuck. I lost reverse when I got sucked into a hole a couple weeks ago. Had to wait 3 hours for my buddy to bring his jeep to pull me out... It was like an episode of David and Goliath...
Awesome build looks like a lot of fun.

Finally picked up a second set of doors so I could make some half doors, and they were even the same color.
All tacked together. Ground down. And done with the drivers door. I also modified the hinges so they slide on and off, like jeep doors, for quick changes and not having to readjust the doors to latch every time I switch them back to the full doors. I have the other door all welded up now I just need to grind it down and paint it and I'll be done with both of them. It really makes seeing out a lot better now. Didn't realize how small the window were until now! |

The throttle cable is just below the ac vent by the door, black knob. It cant keep the throttle in position on it's own because of the spring on the TBI unit. |
