Re: 1972 Chevy Pickup Project.
So back to the salvage yard this morning I went. I picked up a new wiper switch. I brought it back looking up and the wipers are working like it supposed to now. I tried to find a clock Spring while I was there but everyone has already taken all of them. So when I got back I wanna head and took my clock Spring out and took it apart and sure enough it is ripped at both ends.

Re: 1972 Chevy Pickup Project.
Well here is what I have decided. I picked up a different steering wheel yesterday and I put it on the truck. This morning I ordered a new 7" touch screen with navigation. I think I am going to like this route a lot better

Re: 1972 Chevy Pickup Project.
Ok I just found another problem.....I took the truck for a drive (man was it fun) and the issue is when I put the shifter into park it clicks the clicker for the blinkers. It dont flash any lights but I can hear the clicker click 4 or 5 times. I can duplicate the results anytime I put the shifter into park. even without the engine running. anytime you shift back to park it clicks. any ideas? thanks

Re: 1972 Chevy Pickup Project.
Yes thats how I fixed the wipers. That was my thought as well that it was causing the problem but I put the old one back on and it does the same thing. everytime its put into park it clicks.

Re: 1972 Chevy Pickup Project.
Does it click both signals or just one side? Is hazard switch stuck?

Re: 1972 Chevy Pickup Project.
it actually dont light up any lights, it only clicks the clicker that in the fuse box. Its the same clicker that clicks when the trun signals are presed.

While it is still on. As soon as you put it into park it does it.

Re: 1972 Chevy Pickup Project.
I don't know if it will fix that problem or not but you definitely need door switch signals going to the body control module. If your truck does not have door ajar switches it is not that hard to install I did it on my project

Re: 1972 Chevy Pickup Project.
I'll look at a wiring schematic for you. You can also wire it so your dome light comes on when door is open. Your door switches will provide a ground when door opens.

Re: 1972 Chevy Pickup Project.
I found the wiring diagrams for the bcm I believe. It seems I need to show the rear doors closed as well as the rear hatch. Now that I think about it my instrument cluster keeps saying replace lift gate fuse. but i find no such fuse.

Yeah just trick bcm to think there closed except for front doors.

Re: 1972 Chevy Pickup Project.
i grounded the wires from the bcm that are for the rear doors and the rear lift gate. Now the instrument cluster says those 3 doors are open. Which wire goes to the dome light? I need to hook it back up so I can test if its on?
