Very cool mod! You always keep things clean and simple... at least you make it look simple.

Not sure how stricked the laws are up there but have you thought about dusting those with some Night Shades paint to darken them up a little when they are off?

Re: My 86 build
Yeah, What he said!
Did you take any pictures of the dash install? It seems like the earlier dash is narrower that the squarebody cab, so did you center it and fill in the gaps at the ends or split it down the center so that the dash ends but up to the cab sides and fill in the center? How did the steering column line up with the early dash? |

A couple of years ago I found an article about installing a '65 dash in a squarebody. I think it was from Sport Truck magazine. Anyway, thats what they did; add a filler at the ends of the dash. It seemed like when I test fitted my '65 dash in my old stripped '81 cab by locating it in the center, it placed the steering column to the right of where it normally is (because of the narrower cab). Do you recall anything like that when you put yours in? |

Re: My 86 build
....and I had to widen the cut-out in the dash for the steering column.

Re: My 86 build
That's why I'll probably either move the column over to the right that small amount to locate it in the '65's stock location or split the dash down the center to widen it and keep the column in the stock location now. I had first considered using the round defroster vents, but seeing how sweet those flush mounted billet vent grilles look, I think you've swayed me towards those!
