Re: GM Semis
yeah i read about that too,
it was a coleman patented item looks like its simpler to make than the homokenetic ones , some company did try to copy the coleman idea and make it different enough to get another patent but they didnt managed to get it , they tried several ways to apply for the new patent but the cost was enough to drive the company close to bankrupty

Re: GM Semis
I stumbled upon a FB page last night that has all GMC pics from the 40's to early 60's. Mostly 2 ton and up. As I check it I'll post some here....
Once again, forgot if this big one was already shown here. |

Re: GM Semis
Added this ole girl to the project list. 1977 9500/6-71/RTO-9513 NASA Lewis Research truck with only 75K miles on her. Paid cash and drove her home, couple of hours, and she ran like a top. Probably going to change the gearing so she motors down the hwy at a decent speed. Can't wait to start this restoration.

Re: GM Semis
Interesting truck. A '64 or '65 model. I'm surprised it's not a 6500. Must not have a 478 V-6. Probably just a 401. Unless someone changed the emblems for some strange reason. As the Front Bumper is indicating 6500.
It's sitting pretty high. Either the Engine is out of it or it has some nice heavy Front Springs. Any more details on it?

Re: GM Semis
I was thinking about that, I figured being a 10 wheeler would have bumped it up to a 6500. Looks like a heavier spoke front end than my 5000...
According to the less than helpful description, "was a diesel but now has a gas". He's the sellers description... Idk what year gmc 10 wheeler this it but was bought for dump body had a diesel in it but now has a gas also has a duplex tranny in it we never tried to start it it’s mostly been inside whole life was a feedtruck in seaford than was a grain truck and now it’s sat outside on a concrete slab for a year so t want to see it go to waste as someone could make a fun little toy hauler out of it it’s hard to find them this solid price is negotiable! |

Re: GM Semis
If it was originally a Diesel and if it was only a 351D, it could have been a 5000. Either way, it should have been a 478, lol. I noticed that the Hood Emblems are gone. It would be interesting to see the VIN. I didn't even notice the 2 Sticks earlier. That makes the truck all the more interesting. My 6500 with a 478 only had a 5-Speed, 2-Speed Rear. If $1620 is the price and if it's negotiable, someone needs to jump on it. Wish it was closer.
