And as for you 784X4GUY.
You might want to take a look at this link and re phrase or reword your open opinion, before you start a pissing match on here..
This board is filled with military

I know opinions are allowed. But I know 90% of this board was taught and still believes. IF YOU DON'T HAVE SOMETHING NICE TO SAY..THEN DON'T SAY ANYTHING!!!!

Now in the Navy reserves from 2003 till now. Could'nt handle being treated well in my real job so I went back in. I went to Israel to tour the holy land, been blessed by the Pope and raised a lot of hell. Went to the Gulf in 1999 and Kosovo in 1998. Somehow i missed the start of this post in May .... 13 years active (Master Sergeant, E-8) currently in Iraq(stationed at Ft Hood) with a few months to go before I am home(this time). Thanks to everyone who served or supported those who serve....the great USA would not be what it is today without you.....isn't it funny how I put my life on the line and watch my friends die everyday so that everyone can have there own opinion?!? You have to just grin and shake your head.....I heard there is going to be a pasture party in Crawford when this thing is over(OIFII)...lol hahaha

I am active duty Navy (18 years). I am an MP in New Orleans for the past 12 years. Before that I was at Cecil Field (Jax Fla) and Moffett Field Ca. My actual rate is an "AS", but I never really worked in rate.

For those members who are deployed to Iraq / afghanistan and will be there for more than two months, could you pm me with your mailing address over there?
Any time less than 2 months you probably wouldn't the packages in time before returning home.
We have been sending care packages to troops over there since this current war started. Only a couple on our list right now, including our mail mans son who is over there.

We would appreciate your letters too. PM me when you have time.

Thanks

Yes, Chief Gilette is still here, and that's all I am gonna say about him. Rumor has it that he has orders, though. Fast Eddies is gone, as far as I know. The bars aound here change names like most people change clothes.

Just an update - the mailman's son we were sending packages to over in Iraq, he came home a couple weeks ago. He earned the Purple Heart while was there but is in one piece and home on manditory leave. We were invited and strongly encouraged (almost ordered) to attend the family party for him when he got home. He turned 20 the day he got home. Met his Grandma who is a retired Col. (Army), she's a neat lady too. My wife and kids made a sheet sign for him to see hanging off a bridge on his way home from the airport. He said he didn't get to read it and barely saw it. So we gave it to him to keep. He and his family loved it! OF course the cameras came out for that too. He gave my daughter some Afghani money as a Thank You besides hugs for all the letters he got while he was over there since he didn't get very many.
It was really nice to meet him and his family. His one uncle could of played Wally Cleaver, I swear! lol Nice people though. In regards to his Purple Heart, he was the gunner on a HumVee on patrol and they ran over an anti-tank mine he said. He was propelled (ejected) through the roof! And caught some shrapnel in his legs, but he is ok now. But the driver didn't make it.
He doesn't feel like he deserves the medal with getting minor injuries with so many getting far worse injuries and not qualifying for it if it wasn't actual hostile fire that injured them. I have a cousin like that.
I have another friend in Kuwait now and due back soon. Another friend will be replacing him. We just mailed off three more packages to some troops we have adopted again.

I'm not military, my dad kinda discouraged me from going in. Said it wouldn't be the right life for me. He was Navy for 20 years and he also worked on the P3's at Squadron VP-62 at NAS JAX. He also worked on E2's at Miramar and worked for some "Rangers" squadron in the DFW area of TX.

I sometimes regret not going in...but then again, I think we should have a mandatory 2-year military service in this country with no exceptions to the rule also. I would have served happily in this case
