Re: Not another build thread! Progress on my '67
Here's a shot from underneath. I still need to buy some more clamps. I didn't have my vent line hooked up because I left the steel pipe piece that goes with it at home in Greenville I think it's a fairly clean install. Lines up pretty well. I did screw up on the filler neck. I welded on a piece to match the filler neck, but it didn't so I had to make up the difference with a piece of muffler pipe (with different sized ends) and two different hose sizes. Oh well, it all works, right?

Re: Not another build thread! Progress on my '67
The tranny install wore me out and I didn't get around to the taillights or install the ECE 6 lug rotors that I've had for almost a year now! (The reason the truck still has the fugly white spokes on the front still because they are 5 lug now.)
Here's some overall shots of the truck. Won't get back to the ole girl for a few weeks. Enjoy.

It was GEORGOUS in Columbia today (low 80's, low humidity, and SUNSHINE!) So when I was taking pics, I had to delete a lot of them because of the "bling factor." I hope I don't blind people when I go flyin down the highway

Thanks bud I can't wait till mine is in greenville... most likely early november, still a lot of piddley stuff to do that takes a lot of time. My tailight wiring is a MESS! (previous owner liked using multiple types of wire and duct tape ) That was the biggest factor in me not messing with them this weekend.

Well, I picked up another couch for the living room this weekend Well, actually, I headed up to KY with a friend to pick up this *FREEBIE* from Junkyardjohn. Real nice fella. He's got some real nice stuff up there! This should be in the truck this weekend. Not quite sure what to do with my silverado seat??? Guess I'll hang on to it for a while.

Got any pics of that Silverado seat? I might be interested (if it ain't a bench seat).
You coulda also had my bench seat for free, but ... couple springs busted and it's green, so it wouldn't match like that one would

Re: Not another build thread! Progress on my '67
WOHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO ALMOST DONE!
I started off friday night swapping out the rotors, (from 5 lug to 6 to match the rear of the truck) 3 seperate trips to the parts store and I was done It got cold FAST too. I painted the inner fender with a brush and some rustoleium semi gloss black. Looked much better than the black and blue over spray I had under there before. Edit: Believe it or not, there is some somewhat nice looking black paint under all of that mud, dust, and overspray (the suspension was FULLY rebuilt 2 years ago with all MOOG parts.) The shocks are new too, just need a new set for the rear now.

Re: Not another build thread! Progress on my '67
I also installed my freebie seat from JYJ and some S-10 seat belts. They both looked awesome in the truck. The seat was surprisingly comfortable too, and the best part was that it was a direct bolt in!
I do have a dilemma though. I have a lokar shifter and I recently bought a column shift tilt column. I would really like to add the tilt because there is barely enough room to slide my skinny legs under the steering wheel (I'm 5'8" and weigh 165) and it would be easier to get in and out of the truck, plus it's a freakin tilt column! They rock. The problem is I've actually driven the truck this weekend and I LOVE the lokar shift. I think I love floor shift vehicles I have a brand new carpet... do I remove the lokar shifter and put the tilt in or remove the auto parts off the column (that I paid a pretty penny for) and cut up my new rug for the lokar shifter???? DECISIONS DECISIONS!!!!!!!! I got going down the road really good and opened up the floor vents... and I got bombarded with leaves and dirt I LOVE these old trucks! EDIT: Ignore the black primer door jams and doors.... I still have to paint them

Re: Not another build thread! Progress on my '67
I also spent some time attempting to repair the PO's redneck wiring (ironic huh?) and I actually got my LED taillights working pretty darned good. I really like 'em. Worth all of the $75 I paid for them. They are on in the first pic ("lights on"), they are definately brighter than the stock bulbs. The brake and turnsignals are real bright.
I still need to install the back-up lights. I have them all painted and cleaned up, but the wiring for them was all black and burnt up on the inside and I didn't feel like rewiring them too, they can wait a while.

Re: Not another build thread! Progress on my '67
I couldn't help but get two generations of GM trucks together. The '67 looks almost as big as the Z71 in one pic, but from a different anlge my Z71 dwarfs it

Thanks for the props bud I've had to feed off other members truck posts to keep me going. It's hard (espcially if you read the part where I had to drive 2 hours to work on it ) Nowhere near 100% done. I'll keep updating as I finish the interior and I still plan on sanding/staining the bedwood (nothing fancy, just soemthing to make it "prettier") and I still have to get the inner bedsides done with some bedliner (wal-mart stuff probably). AND I've been thinking REALLY HARD about a white roof.... maybe next summer when the weather is nice again.

Now go buy yourself a cheap can of undercoating and spray over all of that blue overspray all over the frame and make it look 100% better. Truck is looking great.

I'm gonna leave it be for now. Might sound crazy, but I plan on a frame off in a few years. I hope to be buying a house in late '08 early '09, so haveing my own place might make things easier the next time around

Its in storage at my parents house. The bed is shot, but the rear fenders, cab and front clip are in EXCELLENT shape. I replaced the doors with an "arizona" set I got at Carlisle. Don't know what I want to do with this one yet, but the poor girl will probably have to sit for at least 3 more years I'm thinking bright red, white bumpers, grill and top, no emblems, dropped 3" and some torque thrusts!

Looks really good! So, is it almost ready to back to Greenville, yet? I don't think I would be able to leave it behind anymore.

That is a sweet looking truck redneck! I would go ahead and put some paint or something on that frame overspray and drive the heck out of her, she looks so good I think it would be hard to tear it down to the frame in a couple of years, just drive the heck out of her and spend all that time on the apache!

I've put almost 20K on the truck since I bought it in '96. That doesn't sound like a lot, but she sat during winters and the first 4 years I was in college. It also sat from '04-'06 with a blown tranny. I put over 5K on it in less than a year when I drove it my last year of college (fall '03 to spring '04) and I plan on driving the hell out of it when I get it back to Greenville (hopefully the weekend of the 11th ) I'll be doing a lot of maintenance on it (oil changes, I think it needs a starter, and whatever else I need to play with under the body) and with living in an apartment complex working on a lowered truck would be even harder. I'm 5'8" and about 165 lbs and I can barely squeeze under the frame now. Plus I'm also used to my Z71 ride height and I feel like I'm in a car driving the '67. So, for now, I have no plans to lower it. IF (and thats a big IF) I ever lowered it I would probably use 2" drop spindles and a 1" rear spring with 2" blocks or something like that. The sway bar is A W E S O M E!!! Like I said, I put a lot of miles on the truck without a sway bar, I've probably put about 15 miles on it since it's "been done" and I could tell a HUGE difference. The body roll is nothing like it was before. It's still an old truck and the handling isn't "great" but it's much improved. I'm thinking about a rear bar now....
