That hood is not original to truck, but I think the yellow must have been the primer and orange base color. How far along is your truck?

Re: 1971 GMC lwb to 1968 chev swb project
that very well could have been with the colors, well for now i have the cab, box, and hood primed, i got my engine built last summer but never got it back in the truck or on the road due to all the flooding etc it effected where i was living and my job i had to move my truck 3-4 times in case the water got too high
still have a fair ammount work, alot of it was the po mistakes or lack of knowledge etc you know the usual po horror stories lol |

Re: 1971 GMC lwb to 1968 chev swb project
I finally have an update on my build, I am basically still stuck sanding and getting truck ready for paint. But I did manage to paint and dye my seat belts. added duplicolor bed armour to my old beat up box to hide imperfections it's a little dusty from sanding the sides of my box. Couple more applications and the should be ready for expoxy primer.

Thanks bed armour goes on easy with roller and you can reapply a coat at anytime if you want it thicker. This is also UV resistant.

Re: 1971 GMC lwb to 1968 chev swb project
This is a picture of second coat all sanded down but and lower panel needs still needs more sanding. So if so do I still need third coat of bondo on any low spots or should I start using putty for rest, as far as I have read putty is just for scratches and air pockets?

Re: 1971 GMC lwb to 1968 chev swb project
Finally got about most of the bondo done, now I just need to get all imperfections done and go to 2k primer. Still looking to be painted by may 1st but we know how that goes, but still enjoying the ride.
