Re: Project Picacho

What's the color of the dash pad and steering column?
Did you dye the dash pad?

Keith,

The dash pad is from Brothers - it's the Saddlewood. The column is "Santa Fe" made by SEM products, color coat. Then I cleared over the top it darken it a tad.

Looks great!

I have the same dash pad from Brothers.
I think mine looks darker.
Yours looks more like the correct color.
Maybe it's just the way they look in the pics.

It does look darker? I would have preferred mine a tad darker, oh well.

Re: Project Picacho

Picacho's brakes are giving me a headache I still don't have any peddle so I am going to do another "bench bleed" on the master and then go after all four corners again - if that doesn't work I will be getting a new master cylinder.

Other then that, I should be able to get him out on the pavement.

Maybe "Picacho" knows it has been like the hottest August ever in AZ and he's thinking - no way do I want to be out in that heat!

Re: Project Picacho

Brakes are still winning!!!!!!

Back two hoses going into the calipers continue to have moisture - i have changed out crush washers etc... not sure but it is driving me nutz!

I think I am making some headway up front. I wanted to stay withe origianl master cylinder look - but since it was a smaller master (it was a two chamber) it needed to be switched out. So I had a 71-72 master cylinder that I am going to try!

I called McGaughy's and talked to them about the proportioning valve - they said I didn't need one????? That would look good, but after a bit more research, i believe that it does. So i picked up a CPP disc/disc valve.

I have some tubing i've got to get straightened out and I will give it all a try!

If anyone has done the Mcgaughy's set up and has experience with this I am all ears. Thanks

Re: Project Picacho

How much "free play" do you have between the brake pedal push rod, and it making contact with the M/C?
Should be around 1/4".

Re: Project Picacho

Well I am still working through a few brake issues but I was able to get "Picacho" out on the town last night. I took him out to Cruise Central. Kids had fun and there was a ton of sweet rides. Sorry for the crappy cell pictures.
