Re: 70c10
Daily driven. That saginaw is the one with the short first gear. Sooooo not happening! The turbo 400 just shifts so well. Scared to take it out.... If it ever goes though, we'll see what happens... Not much to really update because all my money goes to driving it lol Not saying it as a complaint by any means. Its fun to drive! And people love it! Throwing on some cut outs soon. Make things exciting |

Re: 70c10
Thank you sir!
Today I went and got the truck from the house. Figured I'd drive it some. Mixed a gallon of vp110 in with probably close to 4 gallons 93. Where to start? Just, wow. So much smoother, much improved throttle response, power just goes straight to the ground, just wow! And that smell just can not be beat! Highly suggest it. I mixed it that way because I normally run octane booster and lead additive anyways. Sure it was 8.50 a gallon. But I typically spent 12 alone just for that crap. And with the gas its also a gallon going into the tank. I'll do this for now on. |

Funnn. Through in a Moroso curve kit with the mid springs. I think I'm at like 18 initial and 32-34 total. in by about 2800. Something very close to that at least. And also got a vacuum gauge and tuned the mixture screws like the motor wants. In gear, about 500-600 rpm, I get a whopping 5-6 psi of vacuum. Runs much better now! Also going to order a new power valve, to suit that psi. Then I'll be done. In the video I was just easing on it. Not full throttle in either gears up to about 80. And I think I am low on fluid. Tranny was slipping, so I had to wait for it to shift. So it has much more in it! Just didn't want to spin much or scare my sister... lol |

Re: 70c10
Lots of crap going on lately..... Well it all started when I got some bad gas or someone put something in my gas tank. The fuel filters would get terrible so quickly and it looked like red clay. Not really rust, I've had that before, more like dirt.. I don't know. But after the filters started to clear up, which are fine as of now, I had to rebuild the carb. Which wasn't a big deal. But in the making, I apparently stripped the front drivers side stud... Killed all the threads. So tapped it and moved to a bigger bolt. No biggie.. Until it done the same. Through all this I had terrible vacuum leaks that'd come and go.. Things leading to others. It'd run fine, then once the motor got to temp the vacuum leak would come. From the carb gasket. Every time.. During all this, the main power wire hit the header. Burnt it up... Surprisingly didn't blow up the battery. Luckily melted the terminal in two. My uncle brought me wire and fixed it on the side of a busy highway. Which lead to the battery killing my starter. And when you have a vacuum leak that comes when it wants randomly, and a starter that's weak with a toasted battery, stalling in traffic gets nerve racking.. So got a new starter, battery and swapped my intake in my tiny neighborhood at my moms.. Through on a dual plane my friend had laying around.. Just a performer. I know, not the best of them but huge torque improvement over the single plane. Wow! Runs much better now haha I guess when I parked it, the truck got ticked.. Got me back just fine. Its been an annoying few weeks. But good now I really hope. Maybe nothing else will pop up lol I am trying to sale my 67 to build the suspension on this one.. 4/5 lowering kit with drop spindles, new coils, shocks, and then front and rear sway bars. Should look better / help. And what money I have left I'll probably get a lock right locker..

Re: 70c10
Hey man it's been awhile sorry to hear about the recent string of bad luck but atleast its some progress I haven't really messed with the '69 much since I found out I can't straighten my frame so I got a new swb roller frame and been rebuilding that.

Re: 70c10
All issues fixed now and back how it needs to be. Forgot how was this motor could rev! The issues I came across from the top were started by the bad gas. Then vacuum leaks like crazy, after changing the intake the brake booster and transmission line decided they wanted attention. I actually like the manual brakes more, just plugged the port. I may be weird.. Then plug wires that are hardly a year old fell apart for no reason.. 1 and 7. Put my spares on those for now.. Carb idle circuit had ethanol build up already after just rebuilding a few weeks ago. o,O Plugs were way out of gap. Dunno why. had a rear brake fall apart... I think thats about it... But probably missing a few things haha But hey, back good now! I'll get a vid soon. With the dual plane intake it pulls and revs up like a dirt engine. Its sweet!

Re: 70c10
Burnt another valve. This time the other head is getting hardened seats(happened on the other side before, patched it for the time being, only was able to do one head), both will get stainless valves and dual valve springs. Got it out and heads off in about 2 hours. Taking our time trying to stay organized and not make a mess. We are getting pretty routine with this crap lol |

Re: 70c10
Its been awhile. The double hump heads are gone due to a crack. Now has rhs aluminum heads 180 runners 64 chambers, Harland sharp roller rockers 1.5, and xe284h comp cam. Finished the motor a few days ago. Been driving it, working out the kinks. It has plenty of power to say the least. Comp, rhs and my machine shop believe it to be right around 450 at the crank. But I have know idea, could care less about that. As long as it feels nice, and it very well does. The compression comes to 10.1. I'll have vids and pics coming soon. Not really much else has changed. I'm still on a high school budget, doing what I can to keep improving over time with it. I've got to get a posi soon and 2nd is starting to slip a bit. So hoping soon I'll be able to save in time to go t56 and 3.55 or so gears with a posi. This motor is making enough that it locks both up, but the spider gears are going to end up grenading lol

Here is a video, while beginning a little tuning. Not near full throttle, please ignore my buddies language. Always love working with my dad. If you haven't read the full thread it was his when he was 16 and before that it was my grandmothers. Now, I do most the work. But always love spending time with him in the shop. Its how I was raised, some of the best memories. And once we got it in. I know, I forgot to paint the alternator brackets. Whoops. But its not meant to stay all that pretty. It is very much driven. Right now my daily again. |

Re: 70c10
Looking good man. That alternator bracket can be yanked and painted in a few hours. Small weekend project. Keep it up.

Almost a year later and no good news on transmission yet. I still let the motor run every week though. Here is a couple 800-6000 revs. She loves rpm |

Re: 70c10
It has been a long time! I here recently had the transmission built by Trans Plus here in Cartersville Ga. It is doing very well. I'm running a fti 3200 converter and no complaints for the value part. Decent budget converter. Once I remember how to use the site I'll post pics and what I've been into.
