I managed to save most of the original rubber plugs, and I have been hoarding them for years. The plastic ones are a pita.

I think the upper cowl insulation has finally been shipped, so I can get back on the dash area.

Re: Arkansas K10

I got back on this project today. The top of the dash should have been painted first , but, I forgot, so, I spent 2 hours masking so I could do it now.

The upper cowl insulation came in, so I can start installing dash components now.

Looks nice. They painted it after at the factory. I hope you didn't tape it up better than they would have!

I got the dash pad on (twice). Somehow that seems like a milestone. The rest of the dash seems easy.

Re: Arkansas K10

Your dash reminds me of the time I realized I was supposed to paint the trim band under my rear window on my Camaro. Yes, of course I figured this out after the rear window was installed.

I have a question I realize the dash should be painted not get the glare did you pick a color and just use a flat paint or is that factory correct ? I have to look at mine to see but I an almost sure my yellow truck has a grayish dash ...when I get back at it the interior will be black with black dash pad ...your truck is a work of art hats off to your attention to detail...its fun and rewarding
thanks
Jess

Yes, I took pictures, and matched what was in the truck originally.

I took some saddle interior parts to my paint guy and he mixed some dye to match. That is subjective, because there are several different tones of saddle in the parts. We matched the back side of the door panels more than anything.

I added flattener to the top of dash paint. I have a picture on another computer with the original top of dash colors.

Did your truck have a Sandlewood dash pad? We have a 72 with a parchment interior and it had a sandlewood dash pad, which is a grayish color.

My 72 super has a black dash pad and black top of dash.

Re: Arkansas K10

My son in law is working on his K5 Blazer so I have been detailing and chasing parts for it so all I got done on the Arkansas K10 was the park brake and cowl damper.

Larry, do they sell new seals for the cowl damper now? I've got a couple that are just trash.

Not that I know of. Mine was perfect.

I have an 83 year old friend from Wisconsin that has messed with these trucks for years. He doesn't do AC trucks. He brought me a small short bed load of very nice AC parts he has collected over the years. I used one of his AC harnesses in this truck.

Re: Arkansas K10

This is not all I have done, but it's the thing I got most excited about. I thought this knob was toast. I had scuffed it pretty good with the bench polisher.

I used Lave soap and a toothbrush to clean the numbers. I masked around the numbers and sprayed them until they were full of paint. I let it dry overnight, then used a DA with a foam pad to remove the overspray. Then I polished it with a wool pad.

I couldn't get the picture to turn upright.
