Re: Daverods project 66

sand is dangerous for youre health sumtin with the silicon in the sand atacking the lungs , not sure about amerian law but here its illegal unless used in combination with water (like for high pressurecleaning ship hulls and walls)
dry we use either glass or some sort of crushed iron ore and some sort of aluminium stuff

Re: Daverods project 66

It inside a cabinet. I do still wear a mask. I don't really seee the difference between that and sitting on the beach all day/ riding behind someone on a bike going down a sandy road? I could be wrong?

I'm going to try it. It's a lot cheaper. I always use a mask. I also have a vacuum hooked up to it. The thing that bothers me is that I can't see what I'm blasting through the plastic window. Even with the glass window it gets dull and after a while I can't see through that either. Any tricks?

Re: Daverods project 66

those strips of plastic racers use on there helmetvisors but bigger maibe use a few layers of clear packingtape on the inside of the window instead , it will still be blurry but not as bad as the opaque window of the blastingcabinet after spraying it with sand

Re: Daverods project 66

The cab. comes with plastic on it. U prob. never removed the plastic. You know it also has a light. HaHa Seems after awhile the sand tends to make more dust. I just change it out with new stuff. Kinda sucks they only sell 80lbs bags. I'm getting to the 50-60 lbs stage.

Re: Daverods project 66

I've used sand but switched to black diamond from Tractor supply. It's $7 something for a 50lb bag, and they have 3 diffrent grits. Stuff works good. I got it for my pressure tank blaster, And my buddy use's it in his cabinet.

Re: Daverods project 66

Hey Guys, Here is a pic of my sandblasting cabinet I built. I have a peice of glass in mine that I can just slide out to replace the film. I was using the clear projector paper like the school teachers use to use taping it on with clear tape. I was getting it from office max. I found now that tractor supply sells the window film for the blasting cabinet and its only a coupe dollars for a roll. It works good but my window is bigger than the replacement film. Anyways I guess im lucky because I live 30 minutes from hoffman NC where they make and bag sandblasting sand. I can buy a 100lb bag for 4 dollars. I heard it went up to 5 dollars a bag this year but i havent been to get any this year yet.

No houses, just crappy pick up work, an addation and a remodel. Least I'm busy. Still trying to make a lift from my engine hoist so I can get my cab on. The one I made was too short.

Re: Daverods project 66

there have been a couple of plans for those circulating on the forum mostly picking the cab up by the doorgaps inside the cab or with 4 chains from the floor

Re: Daverods project 66

I built one but the arm on my HF hoist isn't long enough. I'll have to go to the metal shop and buy a longer piece. Just haven't had the time during the day to get it done. I did buy a new torque converter.

Re: Daverods project 66

The only friends I have are internet friends. And one of them has very small hands with short fingers. I want to be able to take the cab off and on when I want.
I just need to go get a 5 foot piece of square tubing.
