Re: my 98' Streetrod build
Small update.
New Bils for the rear, they are the same series as the fronts. ![]() ![]() New Canadian smoothie. ![]() ![]() This is what the exterior finish will look like.Picture it w/black painted wheel centers and polished lips. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() They did a great job smoothing out the tank. You cant even see where the bung and end cap welds are. ![]() |

Re: my 98' Streetrod build
Look great. Did you pressure test the tank for air leaks after smoothing it out? It might leak after grinding those welds.

Re: my 98' Streetrod build
Thanks yall.
Thanks Scott, Theres only one tank, its flat cleared. I think thats what you were asking? Quote:
I didnt test it after paint. The end welds were pretty flat n wide to begin with. There was alot of warpage around the weld that sunk in.A little grinding had to be done but mostely filler/blocking.The bungs were welded from in but had alot of tap shavings around them on the outside. If it leakes,Im jus gonna get an aluminum tank.I couldnt send this tank back so I tried to work w/it. Thanks for the good word Alan. That shop is super busy 6 days a week. They are really good people that do great and honest work. Its hard to find that these days. Thanks John. Its not getting sprayed just yet. I need to take it home, wire it and get it running before I send it in for the finish. This is just a final fit and adjustment visit,w/a few little sheetmetal mods,,so probably this summer Ill get the color on it. |

![]() Sounds like I need to move back to TX, so I can can stay busy. Or at least stay steady. Greed has created this mess we are in with the economy, which means honest people are hard to come by. We are out there tho. This board is full of honest people. Don't know why I said all of that, but I did. ![]()

Re: my 98' Streetrod build
Troy are you going to do any graphics on the metallic blue? It's going to be an awesome truck.

Re: my 98' Streetrod build
Thanks Dennis.
No Graphics but I would like some pin striping.Something simple on the hood and also the rear skin. Is pin striping considered a graphic ? |

Re: my 98' Streetrod build
Gotcha,,wasn't sure.
I just wanna keep it simple w/ the color. I've said this so many times now but I am having the wheel centers sprayed black.I am excited w/how it's going to make that blue "pop".As if it didn't already. With a little silver pin striping and the wheels it should have some hot rod attitude. Re: my 98' Streetrod build
I think that sounds sweet. And goes with the look of the truck. Graphics can be really awesome on certain trucks but I think you have the perfect plan with that color and the black rims for yours....the only thought is if you do stripe it....maybe a black line next to the silver or on either side so that stands out against the blue...
