Re: MY build thread...

Great job on the build and get well soon. I'll be starting my '62 build this summer and will be needing advice.

Just wondering if the spring is still running in St. George? It's been over 20 yrs. since I'd been there and the water was good then.

Re: MY build thread...

Could you take more pictures of your back end frame and let us know what you did to get your stance? I am very interested. I saw the build pics, just want to see the final results and some numbers (like pipe size) that is a great stance.

Re: MY build thread...

Well I rolled the pipe notch out of a piece of flat 1/4 stock steel to about a
4" diamiter and welded it in. You could use 4" id pipe and cut not quite in half then firestone bags on the rear and re7's up front with home built lower arms and upper plates. I also have a 1" spacer on top of the rear bags because they deflate so flat I would have to notch the bed if I went that low. I'm going to start plumbing the system next week I hope so there will be alot of pics of that coming soon. Thanks for your intrest in my extreamly slow build.

Re: MY build thread...

I made a plate with a bolt and welded it to the control arm being as thats the farthest point from the opposite frame rail. I hardly have any side movement at all. Im probably going to a watts link when I can afford one so for now this will work. Update on the build...I have the bed seams welded both sides and the pass quater is welded on 90%. Im hoping about next weekend to paint the front inner fenders, grill support and get them hung.Pics to come tomarrow.

Re: MY build thread...

Well guys just got my new driveshaft in and installed and now my next venture is I have to notch my trailing arm crossmember to be able to lay out. One step forward two steps back.... This should be fun with it in the truck and cab on frame. I will have plenty of pics as soon as I tear into it. Here I thought I was getting close to moving on its own power.

Troy etching primer is old school, you really only need a good epoxy primer I had the same question and everyone set me straight on the whole primer thing post pics soon

Re: MY build thread...

I didnt end up using etch primer I used epoxy on bare steel then urethane after that. Thanks for posting I'm glad to see people still look at this thing even though its taking FOREVER. Well progress... Front bags are in and lines roughly routed until I get a tank now its time to get brakes and steering figured out then hang the front clip

Im wondering did you put the truck back together before you painted and then take it back apart to paint it or just how did you or how are going to do it?

Re: MY build thread...

Being the paint is satin black I'm painted pieces as I get them done. Cab and doors once, then fenders, now I'm working on the grill filler panel and inner fenders then the bed. The bed I havent even started on it yet. When I go to paint the truck the final color I am going to pull front clip as an assembly with hood then pull motor and probably pull the bed off. I was planning on jaming everything first like firewall, door jambs fender edges and back of cab and front of bed BUT couldnt afford paint and I wanted to drive this thing so satin black it was.
