Thanks Elco...

You nailed it... 2.5" drop spindles front, 5" springs in rear...

I just got in a set of 1" drop springs yet to install as I've been ill...

Too low up front for my desired stance...

Looking for not so much rake front to rear...

Looks awesome sitting there, but will not suit my needs in the future...

i.e. - shop truck...

It is so clean to be this old...

You should check out this thread...

I was working on my aluminum one today, cleaning it up. Gonna make it shiny (with some dents, oh well) and maybe paint or decal a bowtie logo on it or the "GM" in blue, or something like that.

I have a similar coleman one to yours also. It's small and the plastic is cracked, it's beat up some, but only cost me $5 at a garage sale. I was using it for shop rags, then decided to play with it when I had some left over paint in the spray gun and left over bed liner.

I love your seat. That looks great. Nice stance to. I prefer a little rake on a car/truck. Level is for lifted trucks and for laying frame. Hot rods need to have a rake to them. And anything with a cowl hood and 2wd is a hot rod.

Get well soon. My son has been home from school all week with the flu also. Nasty phlemy cough.

Thanks...
I'm fixing to learn how to use a spray gun on some old hoods, etc.
I'm working on this "project" and need to practice a little first...

Re: The misadventures of Captain Krylon - 68 C-10 barn find

HGS- thanks...

Love all those coolers you have...

When I'm done with the spring replacement up front I will have about a 1" rake.

Not the 3" I currently have... Way too many clearance issues for me...

The front X-member is from an 85.
I did a single coil cut that according to most here on the forum should net about 2"... I don't know if the coils were just old & droopy, but 1 coil got me 3"...

Oh, well... First time I've messed with dropping ANY vehicle so, I'll chalk it up as a learning experience and only cut a 1/2 coil @ a time in the future...

Re: The misadventures of Captain Krylon - 68 C-10 barn find

I finally got to feeling better and installed the new 1" drop springs on the front...

This is right where I wanted the stance to be, low with a slight rake...

No clearance issues other than trimming some of the lip off of the lower arm so as not to rub the inside of the rim at full tilt...

The ride is greatly improved with the new springs on all four corners.

The total drop was 3-1/2" in front and 5" in the rear using CPP springs all around...

Got it all put back together and aligned at the shop that did my exhaust a while back...

Enough words, here are a few pics...

That's where it's at right now...

Have some things I'm studying up on with a few of them thar learning books from that library place....

Study, then practice on junk, then work on the hot rod...

Oh, I almost forgot about my new toy for some of that work I'm about to get into...

Updates soon...

Re: The misadventures of Captain Krylon - 68 C-10 barn find

Stance came out great! Just a thought, you oughta paint all the black panels blue, a star on the hood, then you'd have a Texas Truck! Then a Don't Mess With Texas on one side of the bumper, and a Screw You, I'm From Texas sticker on the other! Awesome. Fly on, Krylon! So, are ya gonna leap into rust repair? What's the first project?

Thanks...
Can't roll with the Texas theme...
Just plugging holes, patch panels, etc...
Smooth it out a little and trying to make it all one color...

Thanks... Picked it up on the cheap from CL...
Brand new, never used with receipts & tons of extras...

Need a bigger Argon bottle though...
That little one is about worthless for the long haul...

The stance came out exactly like I wanted...
Actually rides quite well with new springs on all four corners...
