Re: building my first lowered truck
todays progress.
motor mounts are finished up. they drop the motor 2" and push it back an 1" then had to section the crossmember a bit for the oil pan pushed the crossmember down a bit to match the slope of the front of the crossmember. tada cant even tell its sectioned then we dropped the motor in

Re: building my first lowered truck
well ive ordered a quart of semi gloss black POR15 for the frame and a pint of silver POR15 for the arms and links.
anyone that has experience with POR15 have some tips and know how far a quart will get me on the frame? plan on brushing it on by the way.

Re: building my first lowered truck
after a month off i finally made it into the shop. first we got the truck on castors
then i got going on the tranny crossmember, plate cut and bent, 1.5" .120 wall tube bent @ 39* wing notched for the tube fits titties tacked on then welded up going to run a plate as a back bone along the seam of the tube to the upper mounts i built off of the frame. but next we're having a 40s chevy in the shop for a new floor and some other things, ill post that up as it comes. also the POR15 i ordered never showed up, looking into that now. ohh in other news, buddy got cut off and tried to off-road his mini, lol

Re: building my first lowered truck
nope, tried looking at it upside-down, right-side-up, and and don't see the resemblance... I must be missing something! Cross member looks sick though! are you mounting trailing arms to the x-member also?

Re: building my first lowered truck
today first i got the backbone for the tranny crossmember built and welded in. i regret drilling the hole in it but oh well. also the the mitered 2x4 welded to the frame
then started my new back half! JK did cut out the tank and compressor mounts though. going to redo them tomorrow also got the other plate cut out from the carrier bearing crossmember, havent decided on a way to mount it to the frame yet so its just sitting and my buddy got the motor/tranny mocked up and motor mounts cut out. a work in progress obviously. front view

Re: building my first lowered truck
made some good progress on the truck over the weekend. first i started with redoing the upper bag plates
the old ones with the gussets already cut decided it would be easier to just cut out that area of the frame and start fresh then the new piece sectioned in heres the design my buddy came up with. i like it a lot next i boxed in the frame from the back of the cab to the wishbone crossmember all welded up next is to finish the upper bag plate for the drivers side, then mount the carrier bearing crossmember.
