Looks good Cort. It's been a while since I visited your build. That intake and carb looks familiar. I wonder where I saw a setup like that before.....

Re: '60 GMC Suburban (Project D-Daddy)

Some more progress! I spent about three hours today grinding and grinding and grinding. . . .

Last earlier this week I was able to prime and paint the back walls of the interior and today I masked them off and started grinding on the cab area. Here are some shots. Sorry, I didn't take full shots of the new paint, but one of the photos below shows the difference in hue between the original and new paint.

Here is one of the restored heater all put back together. New motor for it and completely blasted and painted:

Does anyone have any ideas of what I should use to seal these cracks up with?:

Looking Good

We use this stuff all day on those train & bus car bodies you see when you’re driving around PDX

When I look at your PIC with the floor pan removed, and the shot of that 4spd trany it brings back a lot memoires of hours spent laying on cold concrete wrestling one of those critters attempting to align the pilot shaft/bushing.

(the days before the plastic aligning tools)

Running perfect. I recently fixed the rust in the lower doors and repainted them. I can almost say it's rust free now, just a little in the dr side rocker to do.

Got some more done in the evenings. Took the vents to work and blasted them and then came home sprayed them. I don't know if you guys noticed, but I really like taking before and after shots....

I really admire your post

Keep up the photos before / after shots, they are helping to inspire me to get my boat finished so that I get started on my 79’ K-30.

Re: '60 GMC Suburban (Project D-Daddy)

Thanks 88! Some more progress. I'm not very pleased with a couple spots on the dash so I am going to have to fix them and redo it again I think...but the rest turned out great. I know some people will think I am crazy for not getting in the floor patches before I painted but I am just not ready to tackle them yet (hoping to talk a friend into doing them for me since I am not that great of a welder). When it's time to cut them out and weld in new ones, I'll mask off everything and lay down some fire blankets to keep the new paint from getting ruined.

And check out this old book of stamps I found stuck in my defrost vent! Looks to be from the era before zip codes.

Re: '60 GMC Suburban (Project D-Daddy)

Awesome work! I would love to come check out your rig and see what is similar to mine and maybe get some tips on the things you have done. You said north pdx... only about a hour away.
Great pictures too. Nice to find a local with almost the same rig.

Re: '60 GMC Suburban (Project D-Daddy)

That's cool, I think my boys and I are going to make it to the gathering at Jantzen Beach on the 15th. My rig is not road worthy yet so we will be in the car, but it will be nice to meet and see some other great suburbans and trucks.

Thanks, there is actually two saddle tanks inside above and rear of both fenders along with the main tank.

Hey Cord,

Any idea on what you are going to do on the interior roof ? I haven't decided what to do on mine.I have looked at what other's have done, but i would like to keep it close to looking original with more heat shield under it.

Not sure man. I know SMS auto fabrics has the original stuff but I don't know the price yet. If its not too bad I'll probably just go with that.

Well, not much new to date. Still trying to settle into the New Year. Having this new 60-66 burb section is definitely inspiring me to get some work done!

Got a little accomplished today. Took my windshield chrome to work and used our stainless polishing wheel to shine them up nice. No pics yet, but they turned out sweet.
