Re: I dont no what I am building haha

Ok here is what I have going on. I mounted the kit and I got all the brackets put in place. When I compress the bags the rear is not even close to being all the way up in the notch so back to the drawing board I go.

Re: I dont no what I am building haha

Thats only part of the problem. If I shortened them I would only gain an inch and I need 3 and a half inches.

Re: I dont no what I am building haha

What if you switch to a double bellow bag? I think they have a smaller compressed footprint than the sleeve bags.

Re: I dont no what I am building haha

I took some pics of mine to see if they would help at all

From top of frame to top of notch

Laid out this much room left in notch

My bracket is 2 1/4 inch tall. After installed from top of bracket to top of axle tube is 1 1/2 inches.
Just some info I hope it helps.

Nice action shots!

Before you fully weld the lower bag mount, make sure the axle will be able to bottom out in the notch. The collapsed height of the F9000 bag is 4.25"... looks like that lower bag mount is a couple inches too tall to let it bottom out in the notch.

Once again...we see PB is the man and caught this days ago!

I re-read this and....

...Just wanted to make sure it is clear I meant no disrespect to Scotts or Superflysteiny with my PB comment...just remembered him noting this a while ago...

Scotts makes some great products and obviously is working to get this worked out which is

And superflysteiny makes some of the most awesome trucks I've ever seen!!!

Re: I dont no what I am building haha

The 9000 bag min height is 4.5 " the lower bag mount cannot go any lower on the rearend axle tube you see in the pic.The bolt securing the bag is 3/4 long and with the
thickness of the head this makes the bolt 1 inch.

You can see juans post on his rear set up he has notch installed at higher point and he also has the same rear set up as you see here in this thread and you can see that his burb is layed out.

If the notch you see is raised up in his frame on this set up will work perfect.

The notch we made for this frame was deigned to be able to box his complete frame in.

We have some different brackets that will allow the bag to be installed in front of the axle and will allow the bag to sit lower. There is also a different upper bag mount, the lower 4-bar mount will have the lower bag mounted attached to it.

We have contaced Eric on this as well today.

This will be all taken care of no problem at all

Re: I dont no what I am building haha

I'm along on this one, first congrats Eric to you and your wife on the birth of your son...family is everything. Great to see the kids in the shop too.

I'd make the 'burb long enough to fit a fold flat rear seat (mini van style), for the very back seat, in the rear storage area. Three kids, three friends.

Does the Scott's front cross member move the wheel forward in the wheel wells? I'm looking forward to this install, I like the idea of a static drop...even if air bags are very adjustable.

Enjoy the ride

Juan thanks for the info and pictures but your notch is deeper and your rear wheels are not as big as I am running.

Justin you are right I can move the notch up but in order to get the notch deep enough and the bracket high enough . Would have to cut the notch back out and move the notch tothe top of the frame. Then I would have to re-plate everything on the outside of the frame in order to keep the strength. Don't really want to do all of that as I have already put well over 20 hrs into the rear of this truck and I have to pull it all back part. Any input would help. Thanks eric

Re: I dont no what I am building haha

I figured your going to run a bigger rear wheel then what I got. I'm at a 28 inch tire. I'm sure you will find the right answer for your set up. Sorry I was not much help.

This is the first thing that came to mind when I read this, it seems to be the easiest fix. It sucks that you would have to redo the bridge, but it would be less work then doing the step notch again. I'm sure that you guys will figure it all out though. Keep up the good work and the keep the pictures coming .

Re: I dont no what I am building haha

Eric, You could lower your axle brackets to have just enough space for the bolt head. Make a relief hole big enough for the bolt and washer. then mill a slot to your final hole. This would allow you to have the bolt in the bag nearly tight so you wouldn't need the room for the hole legnth of the bolt for installation. It would gain you some room but probably not enough.

Just trying to help.
