Thanks guys, gathering all the parts to really hit this full speed soon...hate starting and waiting for parts...

Waiting for a free night or weekend for help from Glenn at the body shop with the roof. Going to start the rest of the rust repair this week...

Thanks! Got the new power steering gearbox in today from superflysteiny....gotta decide whether to clear it or paint it a color...and need to find a rag joint for it since it's the nicer later model unit but has a larger shaft for the ragjoint....

I like to paint them 'cast iron'. You get durability with the look of original...

Anyone know of a good ceramic coated header for a big block that isn't $4-500? I got a set for my sbc for 160 shipped...

A set for a 68-72 Chevelle fit pretty well and will give you extra ground clearance vs. a set specific to the 68-72 trucks. You will need to do some minor work to make them fit as they exit right at the center of the trans crossmember. I also had a minor clearance issue since I was running square body clamshell motor mounts. The details are in the below post.

Thanks for the info, the chevelle headers work well for the sbc which is what I got....should have thought of that but you never know for sure until you or someone else tries...

No sense in having everything look sharp under the hood and have a set of rusty headers detract from it and nothing makes an engine bay look nicer than shiny headers. I think I paid a little over $200 for mine and sold the old ones for $75 and the nice thing about Summit is free shipping.

Re: Project#1: Bright Horizons - 68 Swb big block on Air!

Flowtechs look pretty good if you spend some time polishing them up. When you get them they will have white residue on them but Never Dull works nicely. this is the $265 set from Summit.

Thanks for posting to remind me of those...the swap to the BB has me re-planning a lot of things Those do look good after the extra polishing and the fitment looks good. Can't remember from your build but how is the clearance for exhaust at the transmission crossmember? Th400? Are those the ece conversion mounts or something else?
I'd rather go with a known quantity for $40 more than risk fitment issues on the ebay set...and guessing that ceramic coating will be pretty cheap...
