Re: Mr. Hyde's Ride
did a bit more work today, some upholstry because i got a deal on a red injection moulded dash pad for 50$ brand new i was going to re upholster it in tan but im starting to think the red tan and black look really good together. so this is up in the air.. any oppinions?
vs heres a before and after of the door panel, reupholstered in a beige cummins brownish color. hard to see but i worked the fabric into the grooves of the metal panel. still need to cut the holes for everything and wait for the glue to sit. i bought plenty of fabric so i may see about doing a stitch in that pattern. vs shift linkage is all hooked up for the three speed i will have to do a test run on that when the time comes but seems like the trans engages fine. no a whole lot of play in neutral position though. does this look right to everyone? ive noticed my favorite thing about this is being able to cross things of my big a** list!

Re: Mr. Hyde's Ride
So I took a day off from work on friday to hopefully pound out some work in the garage, between wrenching and selling my motorcycle I have had a heck of a good weekend so far. I managed to get a majority of my interior done, sound proofing, carpet, dash pad, seat installed, I need a navajo throw blanket for the seat because i hate that color but I will live with it until i come across something.
Still need to paint the vents run my heater weld up some holes in the heater box and install that and that lets me run my hoses to my cooling system so i can fill it with coolant. need a crank pully and belt. fuel line hook up and my vacuum lines. I made my own throttle linkage/rod because I was sick of searching for one so i need to drill out the stud in the quadrajet so i can bolt the carb end on unless i can make an adapter.. cab will get a modern stereo with the old one in as a dud, a speaker in each door and 6x9's behind the bench. still need seat belts.. I was debating turning a ammo can into a glove box how do you guys feel about that idea? itw water proof can modify fab and weld on it? I'm kind of at the point i enjoy the most, the custom touches the design aspect and my mind is kind of every where with that right now as you might be able to tell I'm thinking on the fly. Anyways heres some pictures for you guys! Almost forgot to mention I am registering with a car club tomorrow for the first time should be interesting! tailgaters association of winnipeg what are your experiences with car clubs?

Re: Mr. Hyde's Ride
So looking at the local classified I realized I saved my self from all the disassembly I would have to have done which is good...
Anyways go some early morning work in and the throttle linkage is all done! I need to re write my list so I'm organized again and the shop is a disaster...

Re: Mr. Hyde's Ride
If you want that new carb linkage rod to look even better, just find a piece of stainless tubing and slide it over the exposed threads. Makes it look finished.

Re: Mr. Hyde's Ride
3.73 is a good compromise gear. Not too high, not to low. Run a taller tire if you do more highway driving.

Re: Mr. Hyde's Ride
Have some updates did a test spray of tremclad semigloss to see how it looks I've read a lot on this budget paint job deal and wanted to see myself how it turns out so did a test panel. Wet sand the polish, polish, untouched top coat, and just wet sanded. Found a nice Navajos style blanket for the interior.

Re: Mr. Hyde's Ride
I measured where the wholes are on my trim (used to be there anyway). From the bottom of the rubber seal is 1-3/4. From the lip of the window is 2-1/8. Those numbers are to center. Don't know if it helps but thought I'd try.

Re: Mr. Hyde's Ride
When you say lip of the window you mean under the joined seam?

Re: Mr. Hyde's Ride
Pictures always help. I was going to use the 3m adhesive tape instead of the original studs. That on just do a red pin stripe

Re: Mr. Hyde's Ride
If you are looking to get your rims blasted I would recommend Quikcote. They are on the perimeter at Pembina. They also do powder coating. I just had my frame done and it was super cheap. Half the price of another place in the city.

Re: Mr. Hyde's Ride
Cool I'll have to give them a call once I find a 4th identical rim. People said this would be one of the biggest ground ups on here what does everyone think so far?

Re: Mr. Hyde's Ride
been busy trying to play catch up on some things so the truck has been on the back burner looking for a house trying to set up a welding business, right now as the truck sits glass is ready to go in but sits idle the interior is pretty well done and the motor needs a few things till it can start up. once all that is done im going to wire cab forward then do the fuel tank and line then pull it out so i can get the bed done and ill be rockin and rollin then the general idea is to work on it while its drivable. power steering speaker system suspension upgrades maybe a few other things but i will be trying to hit the local cruise nights and then on to the next project the gf said something about a belair.

Re: Mr. Hyde's Ride
Ok, so back on the project today. Spring is right around the corner it was about -7c today so I got in there did some cleaning and figuring out what I need to do this summer to get this thing back on the road this summer. Yesterday I ordered the blazer tank kit with the filler neck and cap. I was also thinking of going with the ezwiring harness. I'm thinking I'll only need a 12 circuit harness. Took some pictures today because I know how everyone like to see pictures.
as of right now this is my list of what to do. -engine battery heater hose exhaust small block off plate where (I removed the choke and replaced it with a push pull style) water pump pully bolts fan dip stick gas tank kit vacuum hoses and plugs still not sure of the rad, might be good might be bad we will have to find out -electrical all lights wiring harness I need some headlight hardware heater hook up go through my old wiring harness and salvage what I can from that -body work inside of the bed with bedliner body filler and paint on the bed building a rear bumper so i can mount tool off of the side doing the bed floor in plywood because it is going to be a truck still... and i will be making my own bed strip with flat bar also acting as wear strips not too happy with the 3m two sided tape i used doesnt seem strong enough for the rear trim piece install rear glass and windshield now heres some pictures logo for the door possibly we will see.. spid And if anyone has info for me to help out feel free to lemme know!

Re: Mr. Hyde's Ride
Well got my gas tank in with the side fill and decided how I'm going to "install" it didn't look like a top fill would be possible to find. Now I need to figure out how to route the filler neck. And pretty well get ready to install the bed. Went to the junk yard found a c10 and plenty of little bits and pieces off a 72 I was thinking take the spindles but they looked pretty far gone.. Went to the local speed shop picked up a crank pully for a 283 and a nice stainless fan. A few big things left. Rims and tires, rear bumper, wiring harness, possibly a radiator and then just little things and start my wiring. I'm pretty excited to almost be done. Or atleast feel like it.

Re: Mr. Hyde's Ride
Started on my wiring harness looking pretty good if I say so myself. Trying to figure out what I will do for bed floor I was thinking plywood just to get it on the road for now and keep the rat rod feel goin. A bit worried about strength tho, was also considering sof with the bolts just directly into the cross members because not sure who made the call of the bed measuring an inch over 8' feet but they should be slapped. Picture to come of the harness soon with a somewhat write up on the process sofar.

Re: Mr. Hyde's Ride
3/4 inch plywood would be plenty strong as a bed floor. Truck is coming along nicely. As for the tailgaters club I know a member and have talked to a few of them. They hold a swap meet every fall that's open to all.
