Re: Project Platinum C10
I got the truck dropped off at the front end shop today to have it aligned. My tires came in yesterday so I got a picture of them while I was dropping off the truck.

Re: Project Platinum C10
I have a problem that I hope some of you can help me with. Prior to installing the drop kit it asks that you take dimensions from the center of the rim to the fender. I did this and the truck was sitting 1/2" higher on the front passenger side. After looking at the truck the cab looks to be tilted. After installing the lowering kit the problem still exists. I climbed under the truck yesterday and the bump stop on the front driver side is closer to the upper arm than the passenger side. I took some pics to get everyones input.

Re: Project Platinum C10
In my past experiences most vehicles I've owned have never been perfectly level. Just taking a guess (cluelss really) at why the cab doesn't line up with the bed could be cab mounts. I have zero experience with 73-87s.
You're sitting really close to the bump stops. Can they be trimmed down some so you're not hitting them on every little bump? Posted via Mobile Device |

Re: Project Platinum C10
that one is a lotttt closer... Did you replace both shocks? looks like one is pretty worn/dirty in one picture... could that be the difference we're seeing?

Re: Project Platinum C10
Someone told me to try and turn the the springs and see if it makes a difference.

Re: Project Platinum C10
I would think the bottom of the springs sit level no matter how they're turned? Unless there's a groove they slide into.

Re: Project Platinum C10
From what I understand where the top of the spring sits it is dished and slanted (if that makes sense) and can affect the way the truck sits.

Re: Project Platinum C10
There should be a groove for the spring to sit in a certain postition. It's probably very subtle. My truck sat differently depending on which way the springs were positioned.

Re: Project Platinum C10
yea, I would check the springs the top has an oval shape and one of them might not be seated correctly.

Re: Project Platinum C10
Check it before the alignment if possible. I hope it's something simple like that

Re: Project Platinum C10
Looking at your bumpstop pics, it almost looks like you have two different sized springs or lower arms with different drops in front. If you want to troubleshoot, you could always take them out and switch sides to see if it leans to the other side. It doesn't look like it leaned that bad before, or at least I don't see a picture where I can tell it does.

Re: Project Platinum C10
Notice that both front driver and passenger lowered 3 1/2" and that both driver and passenger side rear lowered 4 1/4". I need to take a new pic of the bump stops as they are similar now that the truck has been aligned.

Re: Project Platinum C10
The wheels and tires are sitting at the tire shop. The paint and body shop told me to wait until after the truck is painted to install the rims so they won't get dirty and dust all over them while it is at the paint shop.

Re: Project Platinum C10
Good call on waiting on the wheels. Although I'm sure it'll be tough to wait
I'll be stripping down my interior possibly tomorrow or next Tuesday and getting it ready for paint Posted via Mobile Device |

Re: Project Platinum C10
How much is it going to cost you to get the interior painted? Is it just the dash getting painted or what?
