another good idea from ogre for your painter... 3m paint protection film to cover the steps it will protect your steps from getting scratched

Re: A Scottish 55 Big back window
Time to update a little bit......
So, i picked the truck up and did a sneaky wee VW show too The ol girl's first trip was a sneeky near 600 mile drive up to Scotland...and she made it fine with only a small rear light problem which i solved using mini led torches ....and the truck at her new home....... [IMG][/IMG] [IMG][/IMG] [IMG][/IMG] [IMG][/IMG] [IMG][/IMG] [IMG][/IMG] in that last piccy ^^^^ the number plate WILL be getting moved just below the tail gate in the middle...i will make a floating bracket for it... |

Re: A Scottish 55 Big back window
The shopping list has started and its getting longer by the day
so my first job was to start sound proofing the cab........this will be finished off as my shifts and time off allow.... I really hated covering up the new paint [IMG] [/IMG] How ever, needs must.....so [IMG][/IMG] [IMG][/IMG] and the first new part arrived....a FULL Rebel wiring harness.....i am well impressed with this,EVERY single wire is marked up as to where it goes......the wife and myself will attempt this when i am off work in a few weeks........i have had to promise not to shout at swear at her [IMG][/IMG] |

Re: A Scottish 55 Big back window
We do have a small problem though.....
when i put her into Drive (3rd gear TH350 transmission) she slips into neutral...and then after a little bit of revving and letting the revs die down she gets 3rd gear again..... i am going to check my transmission fluid level....... then after that i am going to have to hit google to find out what it could be,unless any of you good folk could give me any pointers? |

Re: A Scottish 55 Big back window
Over here they are called Model A garages. My first house in Boise had one, when I pulled the truck in and converted to 4wd I did not account for the extra 4" height. When I pulled it out 3 months later to take it to the muffler shop I had to let the air out of the tires to clear the garage door head. Not a tranny guy so can't help there.

Re: A Scottish 55 Big back window
Just went through your build thread this evening and really like your truck. Wife and I both chuckled over the rear window etching. We would keep them as it is part of the history.
Beautiful color and great body / paint work. Love it. |

The Unicorns are STAYING like you say a part of the trucks history along with the "high life" and "jim79" etched nearby... more new bits in today, full ignition kit, although again my lack of knowledge lets me down.....i didnt realise the ignition coil pack that sits on top of the dizzy cap came as a separate part,so i wll order one tomorrow.... Every day is now turning into a school day, even for this 47 yr old fart |

Re: A Scottish 55 Big back window
Just thought i'd update a little on the ol girl.....
not much done really as ive been in for a major operation so i am now on my post op' recovery,so i decided to lighten my wallet a little bit!!! i started the re-wire but have run into a problem with it......for some reason i can not get my head lights to work now!!!?? They worked fine before the harness swap! I have been in touch with Rebel but we seem to be drawing a blank on getting them working again....but,with me being ill,i feel i was on a losing battle..i will sort it in the coming months after i recover.... now the part about lightening my wallet.......i emptied it for the full disc brake kit with bearing upgrade kit from performance online and the power steering upgrade kit at the same time, again from the same company..... i will be doing the brake upgrade first as i still need to buy a new 32 inch steering column to go along with it.... anyone used these kits from performance,if so any tips/tricks/faults i should be aware of? |
