Try to find a CONTRACTOR GRADE wheelbarrow... it is 16GA steel the others are really thin tin can metal lucky if it 22 GA.... ask me how I know! Ive done it twice now!

I found mine (NEW) at a local ACE hardware. I just asked if they had any of the "parts" to one instead of the entire wheelbarrow kit. And they did! $25!!!! AND I TOOK IT.....

Val Val Val, you have got to get a photo, a clear good one of "Dimples" seating with a big smiling while in the driver seat. Then use that for your Avaitar.

Nothing more fun than her great happy dimples peeking out from behind the steering wheel of your truck to remind all us old decrepited bugger of what we once were.

Hope I'm not the only ole man to see you to happy and together.

Thanks Chase

Re: Project Orange Crush (57 3100)

Haha I will see what I can do but seeing as how theres not a seat.... It may be a little while but I promise a boyscouts promise that I will get that picture. Maybe a wedding day thing? If I can get it done in time that is

Last night was a rough on the so called miracle brackets that I got are a low mount system and the steering gear is conveniently right where the pump wants to sit.... so now I need a high mount funny the things you don't think of until its to late...

Crushed with that I moved on to the cab well a few weeks ago I helped weld up a pallet break for a friend and burnt my last tip so I went to the store to get some and my lincoln electric uses "special tips"

So crushed there I went to take off the driver side door so I could begin getting at least one jamb sorted and the nuts the PO "Welded" (if you can call it that) All broke their welds

So then I simply got out the angle grinder and took some more of the rods off of the upper door channel

ugh 1 for 4 not good fellas

Wheel barrow comes in next Tuesday and the Pan and Pickup tube come in today so I think most of this weekend will be spent on the cab and doors to try and clean up the POs weld job and finish weld my drip rail antics

Re: Project Orange Crush (57 3100)

Been hunting down a suitable power steering pump bracket with no luck some late 3rd gen nova guy has to have gone through this before so there must be a solution I'm just killing myself looking

I found a high mount pump set up from an OEM engine setup in a Mercruiser that puts the pump above the driver side valve cover..... It's available to the tune of ~$100 no dice....

Re: Project Orange Crush (57 3100)

Funny how life decides what you will be doing sometimes my daily driver has had an AC compressor bearing that has been grinding for some time now I went to a salvage yard got a pulley and went to install it this evening when disaster struck in the form of the compressor clutch retaining nut decided to break the stud off when I went to remove it...

So back out the yard tomorrow and a tow to the shop to get the AC evacuated and recharged

If I cant find one used there are kits but they are not cheap (big surprise) luckily its at least available but I can't go without my daily for even one day it simply has to be fixed so we may slow down a tad on the truck as far as new things go but that's okay a lot of body work and hopefully nice weather ahead

I explained my problem to my step dad his reply was this "happy Friday the 13th"

I was simply lost for words....

Here's one to brighten up the 9th page a bit from all this doom and gloom about brackets and AC compressors one of my personal favorites I might add

Re: Project Orange Crush (57 3100)

I know you already have the long water pump, pulleys and brackets, but the short water pump helps with that issue. I always use a short water pump on the '72 and earlier trucks. That's what GM used.

Val

Why did she pick you? I guess that wonders will never cease...

Band aid. Can you get a shorter fan belt and by pass the AC compressor? Then you have your driver up and running while you fix the compressor.

Just a thought.

Re: Project Orange Crush (57 3100)

I looked into a idler pulley or shorter belt but there's not much out there for a 2002 Honda Civic AC delete kit

Nothing at the junkyard so today I installed a new compressor receiver/drier seals and expansion valve

I was backed into a corner and needed it running also found a bad motor mount which I can attribute to my idle shake that developed in the last two weeks or so

Oh well no biggie I will post some pictures later tonight so you guys can see what I was contending with

I really don't know why she picked me but she did tell me once that she thought I was attractive by how I like cars and How I know so much about them now that she sees how expensive the hobby is she's a little overwhelmed by it all

VS, she really brightens this page up! Beautiful! My wife and I had the "car talk--honey I will probably always want to do this" when we were first dating so she would understand what she was getting into. We've been married 32 years now. Of course we plan out our toys and builds budget together. Wonderful to have a supportive spouse!

Re: Project Orange Crush (57 3100)

Thanks everyone for the compliments on her I spent today getting the AC stuff sorted along with some other erroneous Daily driver things like a brake flush and one new motor mount that was far beyond its lifetime

So that means tommorow is all truck time woot woot

I still don't have the right tips for my welder (I got the wrong ones again) so for my third attempt I will simply take my gun to the store simple as that eh?

So I will just work hammer and dollying what I can as well as finishing the driver and passenger side door opening ONCE AND FOR ALL

Anything after that who know what could happen anything is possible! Muhahahaha

Re: Project Orange Crush (57 3100)

They left the chop unfinished on the A pillar since they covered it with the upper door channel I will address that when the door is mounted

Also shows their "solution" for the suicide doors

At this point I was tired of cutting and grinding so I pulled the motor to install the flex plate and new pan

I know I won't see it much but I like the flat black

Re: Project Orange Crush (57 3100)

Hate to say it, but it looks like they made a mess of it.

Put in a "few" hours and you have a great chopped truck
I think you'll manage that with some TLC!!

Thanks for the vote of confidence Kees I logged just under 11 hours on Sunday

EDIT: Also forgot to mention I went to a local metal yard today and spent a whooping $1.30 for the metal to repair both door jambs so I can chop the new doors and install within the week

Re: Project Orange Crush (57 3100)

Having support from your other half is such a good feeling. My GF supported me big time through my 3 year build. The PO sure made a mess. I bet with your girl by your side you will reach your goal. Nice job.

The PO sure butchered some stuff up.
I believe you'll get it all straitened out in the end.
I like the flat black also.
