Re: How old were you when your truck was new?

My truck is a 70, like me, how can I find the actual production date?

A good friend of mine has a 70 Camaro he bought new, and its birthday is only a couple weeks from mine.

The protect-o-plate would give you the month of production. If it was an Oshawa built truck you can contact GM vintage services Canada.

1970 C20 Custom Camper. Built in Dec 69, I was 13 years old when we picked it up in early 1970. Didn't know it then, but its mine now. You could say I've had it 46 years.

I was 14 when I got my 68 GMC in 1974. After driving it all through high school I got rid of it in 1979. Took me a few years to figure out this is a great hobby to have. I spent a small fortune restoring Corvettes and a Chevelle. Now I drive and truly enjoy my 67's as ratty as they are.

Enjoy your GMC, Jarvis-69-GMC make the memories and have some great times in your old truck.

I've got cowboy boots 20 yrs. older than you. Just saying! These trucks can bridge all kinds of generation gaps and bring us closer together.

Would not trade it for anything, despite being an old farm truck loved little it is still far more reliable then anything else I have owned. In fact it is having to winter outside because my fathers 04 f250 is taking up the garage due to blown turbo(on that note anyone have a spare turbo lol). I have a 91 Cadilac which starts only when it wants to, cruise works only when it wants to and the car is pretty much just "when ever it wants to". We have to disconnect the battery to guarantee it will start next the next day, my truck on the other hand i will let sit for few weeks crank it and it comes to life. Only reason why it is not my daily at this moment is because I cant afford new rims or snow tires and this truck on summer tires up here is more or less suicide lol. My plan is "when I can afford it" restore it to more or less orig with a few modern comforts, it is my daily so lack of radio (and muffler) is a bit annoying.

Good luck with that truck! Being outside hasn't hurt your truck in almost 50 yrs. in fact it only adds to its character. Keep it maintained and it will never let you down. I can remember saving all my $ in the mid 70's for snow tires because my girlfriends mother would not let her ride in the truck. Parts are everywhere for these trucks just gotta look or ask.
Nice talking to ya. Merry Christmas!

Depending on production date.
The Truck may have been built 9 months before I was born,

Re: How old were you when your truck was new?

Well if I remember correctly, my 72' C10 came out in the Fall of 1971.
I was 19 years old.
I also remember my first Autorama in 1968 at the Seattle Center Coliseum.
All the new year model trucks and muscle cars on display.
Gene Fielder Chevrolet in West Seattle was the neighborhood dealership.
My Dad had a brand new 1967 GMC 3/4ton, 30 years later I bought my 1972 C10 and am finally starting its full restoration.
Time flies!

Re: How old were you when your truck was new?

I was 18 years old when I bought Moose. I was -10 when it was new. Dad had a '71 4x4 olive and white...I think it is still cruising around Sheridan, WY. He sold it for his '78 4x4 swb that he still has, still trying to coax it out of his possession.
