That was for just what they could see in one picture. Fender, hood, grill, lights and paint. This wouldn't even cover teardown at $85 an hour the shop charges.

I hope you don't mind sharing your insurance company with us. I have my classic insurance through my regular car insurance. I'm worried they would try to screw me the same way....
That check was a joke really. What in the heck are they thinking? You couldn't get the parts you need to fix your truck for that price. Let alone labor and a full repaint.

Re: 1967 C10 Custom Big Window

My truck isn't even on the road yet and I have full replacement for the truck. As long as I keep good records on what I have spent on the repairs of the truck. So guys this is a wake up call for having the right insurance. Good luck George

I have Haggerty on my Mustang. I have no personal experience, but between this forum, a couple Mustang forums, and a couple other I check out every now and again, Haggerty steps up when something happens. I even read stories where guys damaged their cars driving them out of the garage and Haggerty paid to repair them. I have yet to read a single case where Haggerty denied a claim or didn't pay up enough to cover repairs properly.

I have state farm on my C10, but that's only because I ran out of garage space and she has to stay outside.

Re: 1967 C10 Custom Big Window

Hey Guys!! It's a new week and I didn't let the check they sent get me down! I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving!!! After a quick email sent last week I received a reply, management was to review the case and the adjuster will call me at the beginning of this week. I hope this is it. Also, another insurance tidbit. Haggerty dropped me because I have special paint and airride suspension!!!!! They are only interested in insuring restored vehicles not customs. I have had American Collectors Insurance before and they have been fine, I think that since I have such high coverage and it is totalled that they are just making 100% sure the truck is totalled for sure........can't blame them. I'll update with what transpires in the phone conversation I will have with them in the next couple of days!!!

Been reading for two days on this thread and only gotten to this point so far, page 101, and didn't even start at the very beginning and saw what you said about Haggerty. They insure my Blazer for much more than I paid. I don't have air suspension and maybe they figure the flames (fairly extensive, I think) don't qualify as special paint. BTW, I got to this thread from your current Blazer thread. I now understand why you'd scrap the 72 clip or a 67.....understand it but don't agree with it.......lol - I love those egg crates! Keep up the great work!

So, do you currently have ACI or Haggerty? I hope it all works out.

I have ACI. We'll see if they come through at the end of this. I think they will, but still, it has been over a month since the accident and still no resolution. Hoping this week is the week!!!

I used to run a bodyshop. Not sure how they couldn't total this truck. Just stay on them and you should get full compensation.

Yes it's totaled for sure, but not in their eyes!! It has been bad today. Called 2 people 2 times each and emailed both 2 times. NO RESPONSE!!!! I'm not even being an ass, I am being polite. Guess a lawyer is gonna get some of my money!! You may want to reconsider using American Collectors (Assurant) unless you love these types of problems!!

Re: 1967 C10 Custom Big Window

I'm going to disagree. I've never read a complaint like this from haggerty or grundy before. It's been a month. How long does it take to get an approval? They've also cut him a check, so according to them, they consider the matter resolved and it will now be an uphill battle to get what he deserves.

Slick, Have you gotten any real estimates for how much all of the repairs would cost? I know it's a pain in the ass, but you may have to drag the truck to a couple of shops (and I'd go to the 3 best in town that do classics/custom work), get real estimates from each, and take those back to ACI. I'm sure they'll be at least triple that pathetic check they cut you.

I do see your point as well. The check was never cashed and it was disputed, but it would take alot more than triple to even begin to build or replace my truck. $40k is what it was insured for. It may be an uphill battle but it is one that I am prepared to fight.....without a lawyer. It will pay off eventually. I did get some advice from a old hot rodder, he got his own appraiser for around $300 and that helped loads he said. As for real estimates, yes. One shop as of right now, but if it takes 2 or 3 I'm willing.

Dang I sure hate reading this. You definitely have me rethinking my Insurance. I know how much time and effort you put into your truck. It sucks to have someone jerk you around on a claim. Hoping you get it resolved without unnecessary litigation. We sure don't want a lawyer to make a buck off your loss.

It would be bad for someone to benefit off of my work, but I'm going to do everything I can to avoid that. Still no answer from emails or phone calls, but they can't avoid me forever. I think it is a tactic most insurance companies use, it just doesn't seem like it should be my insurance company using it on me!!!!!

Re: 1967 C10 Custom Big Window

Finally!!!! Talked with the adjuster because I called from a number they have not seen from me. I was told that my claim was going through a second review because the estimator could only find custom frames that cost about $30k, BWAHAHAHAHA!!!! He said it was tough for management to swallow that pill. Welcome to the custom world boyz!!! He said that I should get a call later today or possibly on Monday after they finish the review but he also said that it would be totalled. It's good to know, but it still hurts to hear those words about my prized posession. On to my next prized posession!!!

I'm with American Collector . I'm watching to see how this turns out . I thought that the agreed upon $$$ figure you paid in coverage would be the amount you would be paid if vehicle was totaled without issues . I'm my opinion I think Slick is totaled and I hope you get the 40k .

I am watching how this comes out... I am with Hagerty right now But am not at all happy with the way the underwriter has Valued my truck... I am looking for another "Agreed Value" company that actually has some sense...

They said "this is the total amount, and where do I send a wrecker to pick the truck up at?" ummmmmmmmm, no. I told them from day one that I wanted to have the option to buy it back!!!! I am currently waiting for a return call from the Director so I can raise cane about this too. Probably after the fiasco they have put me through I can get it back cheap.

Re: 1967 C10 Custom Big Window

LESSONS LEARNED!!!
If you are in the situation to buy back a vehicle, here is how it works. (At least in this case.)
The vehicle is put on the internet for auction and bids are placed. The insurance company takes the highest bid and calls the owner of said vehicle to see if they will match it.
No fancy calculation, no mathmatical equation, just simple auction.

Just Got The Call!!!!!

I bought it back for $3348!!!!!
