That's a good idea. I wonder how it would work out doing it to a step side. I really don't like the idea of putting the gas fill in the bed. Stay tuned. My work load might ease up, and I'll start working on the truck again.

I've seen a few step sides with side fill. I don't like the ones in the bed either. I've been missing your progress.

Here's another attempt at doing the line from the pump to the carb. I made some mistakes, but got it done. I might redo it to clean it up a little.

Split the new pump apart to rotate the outlet.



Fittings installed.





I used a coat hanger for a template. I don't know how to accurately figure the radius of the bend. I made a bend in scrap and cut it off to help figure the bend.



Here is the bend lined up with the coathanger.



Done. I just hand bent the line off the carb to clear the heater hose outlet.

Looks good Alan. I like the fuel pump I have. it has the inlet and outlet on opposite sides. you know the one you posted by mistake

Alan,
is that stainless line? did you flare you own ends? i attempted this as well but could not find the proper connections, so i still have rubber to connect the line to the fittings. can you share the sizes, parts #, and vendor when you have some free time. It looks 100% better the way you ran it.

Thanks Heath. It is 3/8" stainless line, I did flare the ends. The problem is, is that the flare tool that was loaned to me by Shannon flares a 45* beautifully. The AN fittings are a 37*. My question is will they seal up? I believe as it is tightened down it might, but stainless is hard. But then again it's only 7psi or so. The 37* tool that I have (summit's) will not flare the stainless. It is awesome, but don't know how much it is just yet. It's made by rigid. He is going to check at his work to see if they have a 37* flare tool. Here is a pic of 2 of the fittings for now I will get pics of the others plus the tool shortly. Wait a minute Shannon has the flare tool with him. Hey Shannon post up a pic please and PN of the flare tool. BTW Thanks

These fittings are 3/8"NPT-6AN



Not a good pic of the -6AN line nuts and sleeves, but I will get them for you.

It took me all day to bend my fuel line from the pump to carb. I think i will redo it before i put the new motor in, i want to have a fuel psi guage near the carb. Great progress Alan.

Thanks Joel. Any time I learn something that looks easy usually proves me wrong. You gonna post any pics of your progress?

Here is a pic of the flare tool. It worked like a dream on stainless. No marks or slippage. No wrenches required. They run around $100. The 45* PN is 458R and the 37* PN is 377 Here is a link to Rigid.com. Thanks Shannon for the info.

no progress here, Engine guy fell thur saturday! He is suppose to deliver it this week to work. SO, if he brings it i will post some pics. If not, i will just by the new carb and pickup the air compressor from Lowes i have been eyeing. Its one of those husy uprights. 12 cfm dual pumps should be able to paint a little with it.
Did u get a buyer on the buick?

Had 2 calls this weekend. Right now I'm driving it Tuesday to work so one of the guys can look at it. If it doesn't sell I'll be driving it to the BBQ.

Yesterday the wife called and said I had a big box that came Fed-ex. Of coarse the excitement set in. Until I got home and discovered I got 67-72 wheel tubs. I knew this was gonna be a problem. I tried to head it off at the pass.

Here is the page at the truckandcarshop.com. Look at PN 60-09309 60-66 rear inner wheel housing Fleetside Lt/Rt $78. Now move your mouse over it and it says 67-72. If you add it to the shopping cart the price changes to $63 and says 67-72. I called to question this and the lady said it will go thru just fine. Placed the order and had a special note with the order form telling them to call me to verify PN's. They didn't do that and here they are.



They are sending out the correct ones and picking these up. I did tell the guy there what's going on with the website.

Got the other shipment today. Here are some pics,



Brake lines, trans cooler lines, a few things for the 55.



This looks like the correct boot on the firewall behind the booster.





The e brake equalizer has the GM PN along with the boot above.



Now it's time to go to work.

I have never tried, but I heard they won't. I guess that's why they are making them for the 60-66 now.

Shannon came over and help get the brake lines routed, to make sure there weren't any issues. Really didn't have any problems, just a couple minor ones. Once I got started I realized I didn't take into consideration that the 67-72 frt inner fender wheels are different than 60-66. I thought I would have some clearance issues, But there weren't any problems. For those that don't remember or haven't seen all my build. I used brake lines for a 72 since that is what I used to convert my 6 lugs to 5 lugs.

I started at the master cylinder and went back. I still had the old porportioning valve from the 72 and had a fitting coming off the rear that had 2 ports on it. I can't remember how it was ran on the 72. I figured I had to use it. Long story short I eliminated it. If I'm doing something wrong please chime in. I'm going to try to find a pic of a factory 72 setup to see what's supposed to look like.





I'm not too happy with the front line. One straight portion has a lot of lumps in it. It looks like I bent it.



Need some fittings to get these tied together.





I ordered some tranny cooler lines gambling that they would line up with the summit radiator. I think they are workable.





Gotta go thru and tighten and clamp everything down, so overall it was succesful.
