454/th400 swap

Will a 454 backed by a th400 fit into a 67-72 that originally came with a small block without any major complications? do I have to use one that originally came with a big block and that trans?

thnx in advance

Depends on if it's a 4x4 or 2wheel drive? I have a 454/t400 in my 72 4x4. I moved the engine forward two inches and used the small block motor mounts.

I have a 454 in a 2wd, it is also backed by a th400. I think just the mounts have to be changed. the th400 also slid right were my th300 was at. my truck originaly had a 350 in it. bought it with a 396, then switched up to a 454/th400.
one more thing, I dont know if it really matters but my truck was a c20 custom camper special.

that might make a difference as maybe c20's came with big blocks while c10's did not, so I need to know which model I can use with just changing the mounts, I hope a c10 also because a 454/th400 on a swb or step 67-72 would be sweet

Hold the wedding.. 1/2 tons DID come with big blocks. Ive had 4 and they were factory. They also had 400 turbos.
The best deal I got on one was a 1/2 ton 70 I bought for $200 from a smog shop. One great deal. Had a BB396 and a 400 turbo.
I also had a 72 1/2 ton with a BB402 and turbo 400. yes, they are out there.

Yes, all you need is a set obig block engine towers, and tranny mount spacer. The one kinda difficult paret is cutting out the low hump and bolting in the high hump tranny tunnel on the cab floor, but there's been a few ppl here who have done it without the high hump.
