What did I tear up?
I am getting a knocking sound from my tranny (th350) when I put it into gear, drive or reverse. No noise in neutral or park, and it goes away when I give it gas. Any help?
Thanks, Krue

When my flexplate cracked, it knocked all the time. Maybe yours is cracked, but in a different way?

Had one with a loose converter, made a butt load of noise(knocking) at idle and steady cruise, fairly quiet when i had my foot in it.

I need a new flexplate anyways, the teeth on mine are worn pretty bad. Hopefully that's all it is.

Does it clunk all the time or just when you put it in and out of gear? If it only does it goin inb and out of gear(shifting into the gears using the shifter, not changing gears driving it) it most likely is a u joint or possibly a mount. If it clunks or knoscks all the time no matter what the trans is doing, it may be a cracked flywheel like everyone else says, or loose flywheel bolts, something that got up into the cnvertor housing or possibly the start pnion not going back into the starter far enough and the teeth are hitting it.
