Which Tuff Country shocks: SX8000 Nitro Gas or SX6000 Hydro
Plan to order my 6" lift and will order the shocks at the same time. What is the differences between these two? Any one ride better then the other? Thanks!

I like the hydros better. Why? They don't seem as harsh.

I kept the drivetrain. Body/bad and chassis are gone. 1981 K30, 350/465/205 dana 60 and dually 14 bolt. Has a G80, and a flat bed. Going to replace the flat bed. 1985 K20, 350/400/208 10 bolt and SF 14 bolt. I wonder where I can find some 1 tons. Hmmmmm |

I talked to tech support and the guy said the hydros will not pop up by themselves and are ment for lighter vehicles like jeeps. The nitros will pop back up (after being compressed) and are for heavier vehicles like my pickup.

think you got it backwards the 6000 are the gas and the 8000 the hydros. i got the 6000 gas ones for mine but havent tried yet.

I went with the SX8000's on my 4" lift. They are nitro charged but I'm not too sure how well they work since I haven't had the truck on the road yet. Be sure to check other shock prices. I've seen some of the prices to include the shocks with a lift kit and you might be able to get a high-end shock for the same money.

Your SX8000's might not be nitrogen charged but the set I just put on my truck were. They were a pain to put on because of the amount of pressure that caused them to extend. I pulled the following info off the Rocky Mountain Suspension web site:
SX8000 Shocks SX8000 EZ-Ride Nitro Gas shock absorbers are recommended for all full-size applications. The nitrogen gas pressure reduces fade and gives quicker shock response. SX6000 Shocks SX6000 EZ-Ride Cellular Gas shock absorbers are recommended for mid-size and mini applications. The multi stage valving provides a smooth, controlled ride on and off-road. Hope this helps out.

my bad im glad this came up tho as what happened is i just noticed i got the wrong shocks but paid for the 8000's and got the 6000's that sucks now i got to mail all this crap back i knew i ordered the gas ones and just assumed they sent me the ones i ordered.
update: i had the 8000 shocks it seems the box says 6000 on one side and 8000 on the other side so both styles come in the same box, go figure

Budweis: So you have the nitro charged shocks ons correct? What do you think of the ride quality with these shocks? How much and what kind of lift do you have too? Thanks.

I have the Nitros on my blue K20 and it rides much worse than the others with the Hydro shocks. They sure do retract......retract you right out of the seat....lol They are all Skyjacker brand with the same 4" Skyjacker lift.

My truck should be on the road in a couple of days. I went with a 4" EZ Ride from Tuff Country. I'll let you know how mine rides once it's up and running.
