Colum to floor shifter?
My old 78's coulm shifter has seen better days!
I don't like to spend too much $ on her so I was thinking how I could put a home made floor shifter in her! Any Ideas? |

if he's lookin to build a homemade shifter cause of lack of funds do you really think he's going to spend money on a floorshift column???
yes you can make a homemade shifter but it's not really advisable, you'd have to engineer the neutral safety switch and backup switch as well as detents to prevent it from slipping out of gear or worse yet shifting into reverse while you're going down the road at speed. if your present column is all that bad either rebuild it or replace it, good used nontilt auto shift columns are pretty cheap(try the parts board) or you could also try the parts board for a cheap used floorshifter
