Minitubbing A Fleetside
Anybody ever minitubbed a fleetside with a steel bed? I'm thinking of doing this. I was going to leave the stock width rearend in it but take the wheelwells out and cut the bed and then widen the factory wheeltubs and then measure for the right backspace for the wheels. I have leaf springs and also a factory steel bed floor. I have the truck completely disassembled so now would be the time. After doing some measuring I think you could widen them about 3" without hitting any braces under the bed floor. I was wondering if anybody has ever done this and how wide of a wheel did you end up running? I did a search and could'nt find anything. Any pics is appreciated. Thanks, Bryan

Mini tubb
bryan; I too am in the process of mini tibbing my 69 fleet, i widened mine 3.5" and sectioned two wells togather to try and keep the factory look. No pics as of yet but will have some as soon as the welding is done. Mitch

chevyfatman has a blazer with the minitubbed rear, but it was like that when he bought it and I know I don't have any details.
It was kinda hard to see in the back of it (see pictures) but when we pulled 1/2 of that stuff out, you could see they were wider than stock. (by then it was too dark for pics) |

I did mine, but they're not exactly mini-tubs. They measure about 21" wide & they are the stock tubs widened. Since my truck has a coil rear end & trailing arm suspension, I could run much wider wheels than possible w/a factory located leaf suspension. I had 15x14's.
