Granted, all this info is coming from a 76 1/2 ton. But I don't remember any differences on any 3/4 ton's I've seen.
Its easy. Go under the truck, support both ends of the gas tank (i used jacks with wood blocks and made sure the tanks were as empty as I could get them by driving it around) then unbolt the filler necks from the body and slide them down. Remove the 8 9/16" bolts that pass through the frame rail into the mounting brackets for the gas tanks (4 bolts at either end). Unbolt the 1/2" ground cable bolt that passes through a hole nearby in the frame. Slowly lower the jacks down until you can reach up and disconnect the gas lines and sending unit power feed. Lower the tank all the way. Installation is the reverse. |
