Started on my frame today - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

Well, I finished school, so I have a lot of time on my hands and I figured that it was about time that I got my frame done so I can put a box on my truck. I still have a couple days worth of wire brushing to do, after I figure out how the heck I am gonna get into all of those tight spaces, but its good to be doing something again

I still plan on putting a Blazer tank in, repairing / replacing my leaf springs and putting a new set of shocks in.

Pretty amazing, there actually is some metal left on my truck

Since you have the time and the bed out of the way, take a few extra days and pull everything apart, and clean and paint it so it will look better in the end.

PS; have fun & good luck on your new life, I wish I just got out of school again :p

good job, i just lazied out and just repainted over the rust and previous owners silver paint, ill fix it right once i do my fram off on it.

Have you given any thought to drivin it to a local sand blasting company and having them strip it for you? It would probally take them 30 minutes, and the cost might be cheaper than you think. It would also be easier for them to get into the tight spots you cannot get into.

Just a thought.

I have access to a sand blaster, what I am worried about is getting all that fine dust into my diff seals, u-joints and stuff... I'd rather do it by hand than risk having to replace all that stuff :p

Plus, it gives me something to do while I am waiting on the POR-15

How much blasting media will I need to do the rear end of my frame, and a complete box?

I'll POR-15 it, and if I can find one, put a Blazer fuel tank in, and replace suspension components.

Eventually I plan to lower the truck a few inches, install a 700r4 and TPI fuel injection system.

I did mine all by hand with a drill and a wire wheel and it looks tight. It helps to have a Cali truck though.

I'll post some pics of my frame work later. Best of luck in the meantime!

If all the seals are working they seal inside AND outside. By the way you can come and do my truck too! HA!!!

I would go with the sand blasting , thats what I'm going to do
