engine numbers help needed
What can you guys tell me about these numbers? They came from the passengers’ side of the block, in front of the head. I was told the engine was out of a 72 but who knows?

You sure this isn't 16Z500479?
If it is, then it means 1 = Chevrolet 6 = 1976 Z= Fremont assembly plant 500479 = Production sequence of VIN (last digits of VIN) V0904TYY V = Flint (Engine) 09 = Sept 04 = Day of month TYY = Engine Suffix code Year - 1975 CID - 350 Application - conv.cab VIN - L LS9 Horsepower - 165 Barrels - 4 Body/comments - C-10 to 2500
