---Cool idea for you "non-dash cutters"---
I put my CD player in the glove box and put a stock AM radio in the dash. My hubby bent a piece of aluminum and put mounted it to the glove box hinge screws. Works great! and for those of you that don't want to have to open the glove box to change stations....he installed a infrared repeater. It just repeats the signal from the stereo remote to the stereo. The repeater is only about a 1/8" little square. I mounted it under the ashtray...works perfect!
Here are some pics. The last pic is the other end of the repeater that I taped to the inside of the glovebox door in front of the radio infrared signal. |

That's really clean. I am going to do something just like that. The best part is that all of your radio equipment is out of view of thieves!!! Nice job!

Hmmm...this is giving me ideas. I assume the infared repeater lets you control everything the remote normally could. Whats does that box fasten down too (since the glove box is cardboard)?

Thanks for all the compliments! If you look below the heater controls you can see the infrared control for the DVD player...that way I can stop climbing in the back to push play! The infrared repeater for the CD player was $39 and just took a power wire and a ground. Easy install! You can just see the flip down screen for the DVD player tucked up in the roll bar in the pic below on the top right side.
69 Short Fleet- The grill install went good. We had reproduction fenders, and one of our hood springs is needing replaced, so it took a little work to get it all on right. I think the grills are definately worth the money tho'! djracer- Wireless headsets are for the flip down flat screen/DVD player! The kids LOVE it! When my oldest (5yr old) saw the TV screen he said "Man! That is going to be the fastest Blazer EVER!" kickinasphalt- My hubby took aluminum sheet metal and bent it to fit. the radio is VERY steady. the front lip just fastens down to the screws in the glovebox hinge. Works great! It could look better if it had sides, and would hide the wiring better, but I figure it is in the glovebox..who's going to see it! :p And yeah that repeater just repeats the signal, so works just like you are pointing the remote at the radio itself- wherever it is. FRENCHBLUE72- The 2 holes above the AM radio are from the P.O. - he had a CB set up and hung the microphone from there! We forgot to tell the body guy to fill them! We are looking for a cool magnet or something to cover them....not the best, but better than the holes, eh? Anyone have any better ideas to get rid of those holes or cover them up? Diane |

This is a website that shows the infrared repeater:
