TH 400 Pops Out Of Gear
TH 400 pops out of gear from a semi quick start. Its dark right now and I only took a quick look. looked at the tranny mounts and look briefly at the motor mounts, they appear to be ok. It seems that the tranny may be moving and it pops out of gear.
any suggestions? Eric |

Sounds like what mine did when I just got it put in; it was motor mounts. I can't remember exactly how I was told to check it (called up the guy who did it, explained it to him, he said do this, it did it, and yep, the mounts were trashed) but it was have the hood up and rev the engine with someone watching the engine...I don't remember if it's supposed to be in gear or not =P
Basically, if the engine jumps...motor mounts. ------------------ Project 1970 - soon to be seen at http://milhouse.treylis.org:81/

One foot on the brake, one on the gas, tranny in gear. Rev the engine. Forward checks one engine mount, reverse checks the other.
Be careful!

driver side lifts up in forward gear, reverse lifts the pass side mount, engine and driveshaft spin clockwise facing front of truck, also dizzy does too, cant tell that the mount is separated from its metal back until you rev engine in forward gear, or jack up engine
