longhorn bed cheap-------$150.00
one of my local wrecking yards got a 68 longhorn, gold anniversary truck with a very useable bed. has a gas door on the passenger side but otherwise it's not bad, a few minor dings but no rust. will need new wood. the counterman said $150.00 for the bed which is cheap considering the shape it's in. it would be worth a road trip if you're in need of a good longhorn box. if anyone is interested, reply here and i'll p.m. you with a phone number.

jerry- i am assuming that this is a fleetside bed? i know some who still refer to the 9ft stepsides as longhorns. if this is a 9ft step i am very interested,if not please forgive me-but i have to ask as i am not letting any more of the 9ft stepbeds go to the metal crusher!!! thanks in advance.

thanks jerry for the info-the 9ft stepsides are indeed very rare for the 67-72 model years. the bedsides and stepboards are peculiar to that model and are only available via salvage yards. please try to keep me in mind if you run across one-thanks again!

I've been looking some and know I have seen the numbers but can't find them.
What were the production numbers for the 72 long horn. 3/4 and 1 ton?

Thanks 9footfan,
Was thinking they were a little lower, but could not find the page I had seen the numbers on. Longhornman's site only had the numbers for the 68 or 69 but none of the the others.

Got the asy manual, service manual, and a few old Motor's Flat Rate books from mid 50's to mid 70's. Will have to look for that one, to add to the collection. Thanks

Mike,
i was out there yesterday morning, wish i'd still been there when you got there. it's actually a decent bed, a few minor problems but nothing bad.

Gee...a '68 Longhorn Golden is my dream date...I would happily trade my '68 GMC fleet (with a rust free '67 front clip thrown in) for something like that. Too each his own...but I would really like to find one like that to restore.

the rest of the truck is in the same condition of the bed,
The thing Inoticed is the ac grill, it also had all lthe engine bay componets for the ac. I did not look at the cab corners or the floor boards. but I am very happy with the condition of the bed. Jerry, I will be back in two weekends to pick up the bed, I will let you know It will be nice to met someone from this group. Mike

Hello Mike, The OLD bed you are replacing your new one with. Do you still have it? Reason I ask is I am looking for the passenger side of a longhorn bed. Thanks Mike, Billy/Longhorn70gmc

I've got a 71 Longhorn bed in Tucson area, don't think I'm stealing the post as the bed listed is already sold.

I have a lwb fleet side not a long horn I needed a long horn to accomplish a swap to a newer frame and running gear saves me from having to cut the frame. Mike

longhorns are 8 1/2 foot beds instead of 8 foot and were built from 68 through 72
