Front Disc's
I have a 71 front end from a blazer w/disc's, just got a 70 swb with drums...is it an easy swap to install the disc's on the 70? Both are 4x4's.
I have the disc/drum master also. I need to swap that at the same time, correct? Is it worth it? Are the drums really all that bad? |

Speaking for myself, after swapping a 71 front end into my 1970 GMC (all 1/2 ton, 2wd), yer damn right its worth it! IMO its the easiest way to go but I have no experience dealing w/ 4X4 units. Just make sure that whats going in is in as good or better shape than whats coming out, ie. steering and suspension. You don't want to throw in a different front end and then find out it needs ball joints, tie rod ends etc.

swap
My thought was to just change the brake assembly over not the entire axle.
I don't believe the gears are the same from the 70 to the 71 axels anyway. So to clarify, will the brake parts from a 71 disc axel set up, bolt right up to the 70 axel? |
