I just bought a tailgate from GM dealer for my 86 k5 for 285 bucks which i thought was a great deal for a brand new gate orig equip just an fyi for those who may be interested

Sounds good. I bought a 1990 used for $200 and had to take some bondo out and weld in new panel across the top. Mind you, mine had glass and everything, was yours a shell?

the one i bought from gm was the shell minus glass weatherstripping inside access panel and all hardware but it was painted black already and not a primer my old glass was good and my hardware was good still I also ordered new weather stripping and support canles as well as a new access panel for inside but all in all an original gm tailgate for under 300 bucks sounded like a great deal to me and wanted to let everyone know they were still avail as I wasnt aware until a friend who works for gm parts told me it was....
