Another Tranny/Xfer case ? w/pics
My last post asked about the location of the crossmember now that I have the 221 transfer case in. Here is a pic of it and the tranny. My question is, should the cab be hitting the Xfer case? I have installed all new cab mounts, but the cab is touching the Xfer case on top on the passenger side. Thanks, Jeff.

Does anyone have an SM465 and Rockwell 221 Xfer installed in a Blazer? Just need to know if you have any clearance issues. Thanks, Jeff.

I had the T221 and 3 speed manual in my K20 and definitely did not contact my cab. Can't tell you about the T221 and the 4 speed for fact but as the T221 stays in the same exact location whether it is behind the 4 speed or 3 speed, there should be no contact. I would assume this applies equally to the Blazer cab configuration.

Do you have the engine mounted in the 2wd or 4wd position? Since you have a combo that wasn't offered in the Blazer, you may look into moving the engine forward to the 2wd position (if it isn't already). What year is your rockwell out of?
My '69 has a NP203 in it. When previous owner installed it, they put some 2" spacers between the cross member and the frame to give the t-case clearance. They look like they were ment to be there...

What crossmember did you use? I know from experience that if you try to install an NP205 using a Dana 20 crossmember that the 205 will hit the floor pan. The crossmember for the 205 (also from a Blazer) has about an inch more drop in it.

Maybe it is the crossmember then. I used the one the 3 spd came on, but I have to other edges that I can't remember how to put on. Yukon, could you snap me a pic of how your T221 is installed underneath? Maybe from the front side angle? Bouncy, I don't know what position my engine is in. Its the same location as before. There are two sets of holes, I'm in the rear one. I know my HEI is very close to the firewall. Like less than 1/2 an inch away. Don't know if I can move the engine forward though. Do you have to drill new holes for that? Seems like there are no lower holes for the motor towers in the frame rails. Thanks for the replies, Jeff.

I will have to remember the spacer idea as my 70 K5 supposedly had a Dana 20 in it - I bought it without a tc and I have an NP205 to put in it now.

Ya, might be the ticket. Looks like from your pics I need to figure out the torque mount thing too. the 221 mount on mine has a slight upward angle to it. may have to fabricate a new mount for mine. did you see bouncy's question about the engine mounting spot? do you have any idea if it matters where the engine is?

If you haven't moved your engine, it is in the stock 4wd position, especially if your HEI is that close to the fire wall. Is the 4spd longer than the 3spd? If so, it might be to your advantage to move the engine to the 2wd position. There should be holes in your frame to move the mounts forward, but you may have to drill holes in the frame for the cross member.

No the 465/T221 combo seems to be shorter than the 3spd/203 combo. I had to move the crossmember forward about an inch and a half. Will there be any problems keeping the engine where it is originally? Other than if I have to pull the dizzy?

Keep the engine were it is. The 4wd's are back further than the 2wd so the front driveline could be as long as possible, reducing the angle. I have the same issue with the HEI being right up next to the firewall in my '69.
Another option is to find a cross member from a 67-69 pickup with a 465/221 combo and see if that solves your problem. I don't know if the cross member is different or not.

I'll have to try to find someone with one. Yukon's pics are 3spd/221, and it looks about the same as mine is. I don't think there will be a problem if I just use your spacer deal. I'm going to have to have the drive shafts modified either way and will have to modify the transfer case torque mount too. Grade 8 bolts should handle all it will do anyway. Not that this will be a moster mudding machine either. Its just going to be something nice to drive like the truck is.
