Wooden bed floor???
I'm new here,But I have owned several Chevy trucks over the years.
The other day I looked a 1973 built 3 or 4 of 73, It was a 8 ft 3/4 ton. My ??? is the truck had a bed with a wooden floor. I have never seen one before. How common is this ???? I'm looking to by the truck to "restore" is it worth buying just because this my be a rare option?????? |

Wooden beds were offered in all long bed fleetsides as well as all stepsides, the only model not offered with a wood bed was the 6.5 foot fleetside, or short bed fleetsides in other words.
Is it worth restoring because of the wood bed option, NO in my opinion...the wood bed doesn't make it worth any more than a steel floor model. These trucks are not rare or valuable like some of the 67-72's...but it doesn't mean you shouldn't restore it. If it is a clean truck, and you want to hang on to it for a while, go for it. But if you want to restore it and make a profit, it won't be financially beneficial IMO. Hope this helps some, I am sure others will chime in and voice their opinions too...don't just take my word for it. Welcome to the board.
