12 bolt brake backing plates...Problem solved!

Mine are badly rusted, need new ones ASAP.

Can't find a GM part number in our EPCs for them, are they available aftermarket? It royally sucks to buy every single part i need to completely rebuild the rear brakes only to find out that i have nothing solid to mount them on.

Any and all suggestions, short of swapping to disc brakes, are much appreciated!

Oh and i need them for 11 5/32x2.75" brakes. I'll be satisfied if i can find some used ones in good condition.

Anyone? I refuse to believe no-one has had this problem before, seeing as these rear ends are at least 25 years old.

A later 10-bolt might be a source. I changed my '79 half-ton Suburban's broken 12-bolt rear end for an '84 10-bolt, & the old backing plates bolted right up to the newer rear end. I don't know the size of the brakes, but they are bigger than the standard pickup truck brakes.

Thanks for the lead.

I was finally able to get the part numbers for 11 5/32x2 3/4 backing plates, which are:
14026844 replaced by 0357854 Right
14026843 replaced by 0357853 Left

Discontinued from GM. Damn.

Standard brakes are 11"x2" for half tons.

Wonder what to do.

Drove 100 miles to a big junkyard today, and was able to find about a dozen of 12 bolts on racks, most of them complete with brakes and all. Out of the dozen or so, NONE had the right size brakes. Next i turned to the 10 bolts, which the place had plenty of. Nothing that would fit, nada. Just when i'm about to give up, i spot a pair on top of a junkpile stashed inside an 80's Van waiting to be crushed. Bingo! A pair of nearly rust-free, straight plates complete with brake cylinders and all.

And the best part is, i paid €30 for both. ($40)

Thanks to Jimfulco for the tip on 10/12 bolt interchangeability and to everyone else for trying to help.
