Need some help on parts locating...
Alright, I've decided to keep the truck and it's going to go through a frame-off resto. that being said, the plate that bolts onto the bed wood is rotted away to practically nothing. This is a LWB 67 C10 fleetside. I have yet to find any place that sells repop bedsides for my truck. They're either SWB fleetside or LWB stepside, but no LWB fleetsides. Besides that plate, they're not in too bad a condition, with a small hole on the LH bedside being the only problem, and that's an easy patch.
Since they're not too terrible, if I can't find the whole sides, I was thinking, could I take a piece of steel shaped in an L and weld that to the back of the side, then use filler to smooth out that seam to look like the original piece? it would be just as sturdy, and would be cheaper than replacing the whole thing. Best yet, I can get pieces of steel like that for next to nothing and just drill my own holes for the bolts. What do you think?
