Question for motor guys????
1995 LT1 from a Camero or Firebird. Pin drive distributor no visible wear on any parts. It keeps breaking the rotor off on the side of the distributer cap. It has had two or three new distributers and is still breaking them. Any ideas would be great.

HMMMMMMM... I would usually call myself a motor guy and have dealt a bit with LT1's but this very unusual. I have no clue what it is, BUT I assure you that someone on here knows exactly what to do.
Good luck

I am also running a 95 LT-1 and have changed out the opti-spark distributer. The only thing that comes to mind to me is make sure the distributer is seated on the bub flat and straight on it. It may be cocked enough to throught the bearing inside the distributer out and allow the insides to move. Just a guess, never had this problem.

I'm with NPilot1975 on this one, the opti has to be aligned and installed in the front cover seal squarely and make sure that the little drive pin in the camshaft is the lined up with the notch in the dist. drive. Just an idea, has the camshaft been replaced? The camshaft has a hole for that pesky little drive pin and maybe it isn't drilled to the correct depth, or the pin itself is too long... I've pulled out more hair working on our 4th gen. F-body LT-1.
