Transfer Case I.D. ??

How do you tell what kind of transfer you have? I have a T.C. that was behind a granny low 4 speed in an '81 K20 that I'd be interested in selling. I need to know how to I.D. it. It has an adapter plate on it and it is chain driven I believe if that helps.

Thanks.

Most 81's got the 208. If it's all aluminum it is a 208. If it is cast iron except for the covers it's a 205. 205's mid shaft has a cover on the back below where the rear driveshaft is in the middle with three bolts is how most people tell a 205.

That sounds like the NP208. The NP203 shouldn't have shown up in '81.
But if you can get under truck and look, if it is aluminum it is a NP208. If it is cast iron, it is the NP205. Good luck selling your truck

Its cast and it has the cover with the three bolts. So I guess it's the 205. What is one of these worth?

Well $150 if it's course spline. If it's the fine spine 32 probably $175-200 on the case would be good prices.

Is the tranny also going and is it a hydraulic clutch or a manual clutch? What all will be included. If the peddles and slave are included with fly wheel to make a complete package you may get a little more to save somebody some leg work.

Thanks Grim,
I'll have to check the splines. All that's left of the clutch linkage is the pivot that mounts to the frame. The tranny would go also, but I think the second gear synchro is bad because it doesn't want to stay in 2nd gear.
