Training Wheels on Truck??
Saw this truck on ebay. I can't figure out what the small wheels are behind the rear wheels. Anybody have a clue? The truck looks nice besides the training wheels and the green shag carpet.

The only thing I can come up with is to keep the rear bumper or frame from scraping the ground?????

Another Ricer meets it's demise. He just hasn't cleaned the debris out from under the truck yet
![]() Yeah I'll agree with Orange70chevy. It is probably to keep the rear bumper from dragging. I'm sure it works but it looks kinda ![]()

Training Wheels ?
Those wheels in the back were a "drop axle" to assist GVWR when an long camper was loaded onto the truck. One of the major camper manufacturers in the early '70s used to add that type of axle to help with the rear overhang when long (11' to 12') campers were installed. (If memory serves me, I believe it was Travel Queen campers that did this).

Those are the truck style wheelie bars so we won't flip over backwords at the drags!
![]() ![]() Heck I'm confused to, my guess would be some sort of overload to keep the rear from dragin like you already stated.

It was more fun to put the question out here than just call the seller. There is no way he would have come up with some of the great answers you guys are posting. Moonlight, why would anyone want to remove that great carpeting? It's strange that it's in there with the rest of the interior looking that good. It looks like original buckets with a center console. The mirrors on the front fenders are a little much. Those extra wheels even have baby moons. Now that's custom!

Going through old threads tonight and found this one. This truck did pretty good on ebay. It fetched $9600.00. It would be a very nice truck without all of the custom accessories that were bolted on. I wouldn't mind having it parked in my garage.
