Drive mine daily and if I had a/c I would love it No need to secure mine, just lock the doors and take the keys out. My truck is parked in a very well lit parking lot with police and security patrolling in regular intervals.

I used to drive mine everyday snow/ shine, I had to get something else to drive though since it got so beat up, keyed, backed into, broken into twice (almost). Now I have an exploder to beat up daily ha ha.

I drive mine daily, when it runs. It seems that is is often partially disassembled while I try to fix the broken stuff.

Nope, my 77 is a fair weather cruiser. It was really nice out last night so I went to dinner in it. It's not a trailer queen (yet), but it takes a lot of extra work to clean everything after it's been in the rain.
My 04 Dodge QC is my daily driver....

I'm building my truck to be driven but not everyday. No plans for A/C, heater, or windshield wipers.

I bought my truck 3 years ago to use mainly in our winter snow and salt but, because the air works and it is so darn dependable I use it every day for work and running around. Using it as my DD really helps keep the mileage down on my conversion van which would cost a lot more to replace.
No security needed: No matter how many gizmos you put on something to protect it, if someone really wants it, something off it or out of it, badly enough, they'll get it. Besides no matter where I park it there will always be another vehicle around that would look more worthwhile stealing than my old Chevy truck.

yup, daily driven, if the truck doesn't run, i walk, just back and from school and where ever else i need to go. as far as sucirty, its not much, just 1 toggle switch for the fuel pump, i don't care to much if it gets stolen, just an excuse to do a frame up early

Daughter drives the 82 daily, the 96 is my daily ride. The 70 someday will move again under it's own steam.

Mine is half a daily driver. I rotate my trucks through the week. I keep them both running at all times. Never know when one will need to be parked for maintenance. Like now. BADBOW has been parked for almost 2 weeks. I need to get the A/C fixed. Looks like the compressor is shot. I'll try to get to it this week.

Mines been a daily driver since August 31, 2002. After 6 months of body work it was on the road, a month later the tranny went. I replaced it with free one, been great driver in snow, mud, and everyday. I put 16K on it since I first started driving it.

yes mine is a daily driver...
76GMC lwb 2wd c1500, tired 350 with new Edelbrock 600cfm carb, Michelin XCX 31x10.50s... small rust spots on bottom of door (smaller then a dime) but otherwise a straight body and clean. security? this is a very low crime area so i dont worry too much, besides with the problems ive had starting it (hopefully fixed now but not sure), i doubt they would know the trick to getting it started either lol

Well my 68 is the daily ride but since its clutch gave up the ghost & a new 408/700R4 is in the works, my 74 has been doing the daily grind for several months now. Security is 2 independent kill switches . . .....

My '76 is somewhat of a daily driver. I drive 85 miles round trip to work every day on the interstate, and I don't like to drive it at those speeds. I have a 2000 Nissan Crew Cab 2wd that I drive to work. I do drive the '76 around town all the time to save mileage on my Nissan, and I'll drive it to work once a month or so (like today). I just take the back roads and keep it at a reasonable speed. It needs a little engine work. It still runs strong with 141,000 miles, but it has a lifter that is making noise and it has a bit of an oil leak which I think is coming from the rear of the intake. I'm hoping to get these 2 things fixed soon.
As for security, I just take out the keys and lock the doors. As was mentioned above, if someone wants it bad enough, they'll take it any way. This is not the best pic of my truck, but it's the latest. |
