8lug front / 5lug rear...WTF?!?!

I seen a 79 C10 LWB the other night...had 8lug front and a 5lug rear. I was like WTF?!? The thing sounded NASTY..but seriously...WTF? My thinking was..since it was an 8lug front, it had to be a BigBlock, and the rear axle had been changed over to a 5lug...am I right?

Why? I've got a 3/4 ton with a SB. Just because it's 8 lug only means it's at least a 3/4, not a BB. He must have changed the rear for some reason.

all 1/2 ton 2wd BB trucks are 5 lugs, from 71 on. maybe the guy just wanted to be different from everyone else and carry 2 different spares?
