converting to 4x4

Say I bought a half ton 4x4 parts truck, what would be involved in swapping my GMC to 4x4?

easiest way would be to swap your engine and body onto the 4x4 frame...

but you could take the tailshaft (if they have the same trans, buy a different tailshaft if its a different trams), t-case, crossmember, engine crossmember, axle, driveshafts, trans tunnel (high hump)....etc..

This truck is an 81+ but is rotted out nasty, but the frame looks decent, while my 73-80 body is good, but my frame is all twisted up, plus, the 3/4 ton stuff rides so unbelieveably rough :S

Russell;

I think that it would be a wash as far as ride quality goes. My 78 k-10 rides like an ox cart, but it's been a long time since I've driven an 73-80 3/4 ton.

my 77 K20 rides like a dream, ride doesnt change much with the plow on the front either. if i had a choice between it and my 91 K1500, the K20 would be the DD.

Russell, swap your body onto the 4x4 frame, and make sure to use 81+ busings to mount your cab.
