Question relocating front shock mount

I have a question about relocating the front shock mount position a 1985 1/2 ton suburbon. The original top mount position is in the frame, but mounting hole has been wallowed out to about 2'' way to large for the bolt.
I could just weld a piece of metal/round stock/large washer in place and go with-it, but the frame has a slight forward concave to it seems difficult to match....So what I thought of doing is mounting a set of 4x4 front shock brackets! LMC sells them for about 8$ each or I could go to the u-pullit yard.
Question is will they work ok? will this affect the handling or the ride? everythig else is stock...any ideas?
