Hey Tim,
I hope your surgery went well! Carpal Tunnel Syndrome is definately not fun. I had this surgery last February (on my right hand). Being right-handed, it made life quite interesting for about a month. It's amazing how much I depended on my dominant hand! Before the surgery, I would be awakened 5 or 6 times a night with numbness and extreme pain. Sure glad I got it done! I had to have conventional surgery as opposed to the laproscopic(sp) kind so I went to a plastic surgeon. There is now a 2-inch scar on my right palm that is almost unnoticeable (unless you're looking for it). I'm planning to get the left hand fixed this winter after my outdoor activities are finished for the year. The recovery time for my surgery was a little longer than for laproscopic(sp). The strength in my hand came back within about 4-weeks. However, the palm still hurts when pressure is applied (such as pushing oneself up on an armrest when getting out of a chair). Sorry this is so long but I know what you're going through. Hang in there, it'll be worth it! T p.s. You won't believe this, but you must ABSOLUTELY go to the physical therapy session that your doctor will certainly reccommend! The weird excercises are not too much fun, but the hand-massage is almost a sexual experience! WOW! You'll see what I mean. Talk about "Hurts so Good"! |

Quit goofing off and get back to work...
Yeah, been calling him about a new order, but get told he'll be in later, then sometime tomorrow...I figured he must be taking some time off after working Charlotte all weekend. Should have known better.
Didn't know he was getting his paw fixed, tho... Best wishes, Tim. SSOW...

Get Well soon Tim....
Was a welder before retirement....mine was pretty bad before the surgery. But I swear, after the surgery it seemed much better that ever before.

Get well soon Tim. I have just had a tenden (sp) repaired myself and still have the splint on. It is not fun but hopefully we'll both be back at it soon.

Yo Tim----
Sorry to hear abuot your hand problem. Makes one kind of wonder just what you've been doing with it to creat this kind of problem. According to what I've read about, it tends to happen to those who use repetative actions with the hand and wrist ---for many years----that allows the carpel to swell within the tunnel so the point that the nerve is irritated. Maybe you need to switch hands with those repetative actions---you know like stacking new sheetmetal truck parts etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc.
